All the NB2's I've been driving have the same exact chassis and bracing as the MSM, as they are all SE's. Feels exactly the same.

I've only driven my MSM a couple times, actually. Its just sitting in my back yard right now while I'm messing with my nissan and subaru.

I'll be posting updates once I start actually tinkering with this car and driving it. So far I bought the MS Pro, a complete shifter rebuild kit along with all AMSOIL fluids, and an FM tb elbow for it.

Neat! That bear you keep in your backyard is going to eat that tiny car.

The stuff I sold was part of an awesome kit. I didn't want to bastardize the kit by keeping some of the parts.

Besides, the intake is MSM specific FM intake, and the bpv is MSM/FM specific, and the intercooler is slightly smaller and more MSM specific (smaller inlet/outlet).

Stephen is right - I keep the classifieds classy

Now I just need to find a sidemount manifold and a t25 for this car...........................

Give me a month or two and I will have a mkturbo t25 setup done. Should be almost exactly the same as my t3 one, but for t25 with a standard downpipe flange. No fancy v-band outlets for the t25's.

That is very true. If I did not already have to focus on getting setups out to people who have bought t3 setups, I would work on the t2 setup more just for 18psi.

Lars, you are an animal.

I kid you not: go to BEGi and tell them to hire you immediately so you can show them how to make turbo kits.

on another note, cross posting this from M-S cause there are plenty of speed owners on here too:
I picked up an 04 Ti a few weeks ago, 70k miles, good condition, nothing wrong with it, completely stock.

... my 1st MSM, and I haven't wrenched on or tuned many MSM's over the years. So I'm looking to "take care of" any and every issue or defect on this car, as well as do all maint before I start driving it daily.

It has fresh oil and filter, recently flushed cooling system.

I know about some of the obvious issues already, and have parts ready to install to fix them (as well as upgrade while im in there):
tb inlet hose issue (FM inlet acquired)
intake restriction issue (FM intake acquired)
weak bcs (turbosmart mbc acquired)
dinky stock fmic (proper bar/plate acquired)
leaky bpv (turbosmart acquired)

The shifter is really sloppy too, took it apart and the bushing inside is broken as well as the lower boot ripped. Complete rebuild kit acquired, as well as amsoil mtg for the trans and amsoild svg for the diff.

Lastly, I know about the horrendous OEM ecu and how much it kills driveability and torque, so a DIYautotune PNP-Pro is acquired.

So my question: WHAT AM I MISSING?

I will check the pcv valve and make sure its good, I will check the EGR and make sure its good (and clean if needed), I plan to look into the oem AOS drainback valve if needed, is there anything else specific to the MSM that I'm overlooking? Please share your thoughts/knowledge. I will keep searching and reading in the meantime. I'm extremely OCD so I will likely not even drive this car until everything is 150% good.
Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything obvious.
I know the 4.1 fd sucks, and I know the silly limiters on the steering rack, but I don't think I'll be touching either of those any time soon
Oh and I have fm1 suspension to replace the oem, and 15x8 flatouts to replace the stock boat anchor 17's

*edit: oh and on a completely off-topic note, I've been cleaning up my "even heavier pig" in the meantime and just driving it daily.

Black > neon green or neon blue, that's for sure LOL

I can't wait to swap out my 4.1 :(, 1234-5-6 shifts all day.

Interested in how the FM1 suspension feels compared to stock

Do you have a trubo in mind for the msm??

The 4.1 isn't the worst thing in the world once you can rev the car it's meant to be revved. Until you make some real power.

6 speed + 4.1 + stock power = more shifting than I want. I can't wait to get the 3.6s I bought from Hussy in my car. Even at stock power I really miss the 5 speed.

Any chance you or your brother have a 3.9 lying around?

I think he does, but honestly 4.1 to 3.9 seems like a waste to me. If I'm doing all that work, it better be 3.6 or lower.....or did you need one?

Nevermind, that was retarded. MSM has MSM specific diff and axles. I know better than that.

I do not, but I agree, 3.63 or don't bother.

No real updates, but I finally changed trans/diff fluids and rebuild the shifter completely today, and took it on a 5 min drive (only my 2nd time driving the MSM since I got it, LOL).

I can't even comprehend how people own these cars long term with the stock ecu. I mean.................before about 5500 it feels like a prius, and I'm only slightly exaggerating. I bet if I shifted at 5500, I would get beat by a corolla.

So glad I pulled the trigger on the mspro
