Every now and then you see a totally "normal" thread go berserk and OP just starts pouring out truckloads of money. I want to know what triggers this, and more importantly: what happens to OP's financial situation that all of a sudden doing something like that is a reality. This has happened at least a handful of times now.
Seriously......Flying Andrew out to set up your car? Holy sh*

I'm rolling up the Bens and smokin' them - because I can ... but now - it was a thought to "BRIDE" Sav into helping setup the car at an AWESOME track he's never been on before (Barber or Road Atlanta) if I were to pay for a CHEAP-*** Southwest flight with 5 lay-overs where it takes a day and half just to get here. Honestly, the amount of freakin head scratching and dicking around with a setup that I have no clue as to wtf I'm doing - I can guess, but I'd be wrong - mostly - it'd be worth it to pay someone who knows their **** and that could possibly keep me from destroying the car I just rebuilt. If the dope still sells, I hope to arrange something next spring and talk to one of the masters about coming out and driving the car.
On the financial side - well, I left contracting for someone else and started doing it for myself. 1.5yr in starting from scratch, I'm for the most part debt free - just parts costs and overhead, which is low. Business is going great and profit margins up - allows me to finally do what I wanted to do from the start, and help spur on the economy by throwing wads of cash to our vendors! Do I have 500k in the bank - hell no - miata first

I wasn't dancing, Steve can attest to that - I was just curling beers and watching you guys roll around on the ground with 2x4s and a tape measure at midnight!
But yeah, we certainly need to plan something again!

Questionable - I have the weekend free... last year I drank too much that I regretted it Saturday morning for the MX5 cup race... it wasn't pretty.
not to mention, finding a small level spot to pop a tent Thurs night was impossible... if I come that late and plan to camp, I'm bringing a hamock and sling between 2 trees - **** the sticks and ants, they were horrible.

This is a good blog on the VVT heads/valve train - stock springs and high revs leads to worn valves - this was either due to float or worn guides.
1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata: Valvetrain Tech
In 2001, Mazda again tweaked the head, this time with variable intake valve timing. The solid lifter setup was retained, and a yet-slightly more aggressive cam profile was added. With this setup, little margin was retained. Racers that have raised their rev limits on stock VVT Miata heads learned this the hard way -- destructive valve float occurs just 300 rpm after the stock fuel cut of 7200 rpm
