We don't grow it but yes, there is some asparagus out this way.
Right now we are making a killing in celery. Last week we were one of the few suppliers with product so we essentially set the market price to whatever we want it to be. Last time I checked on the numbers we sold something like x7 or x8 more last week than our weekly average for the entire year, and we sell a lot of celery anyway.
This is 100% attributed to everyone's grandmas traditional family stuffing recipe

Right now it would totally not be worth it. Let the government subsidized corn guys play in the fuel market, we wouldn't want anything to do with that right now.
Price is only half the battle, the other half is of course volume. Its all well and good that iceberg lettuce is $30+/case right now but if you don't have any to sell then that pricing does you no good. I just checked the numbers and prices are way up across the board, but I'd need to do some digging to see what our volumes look like.
We literally sold everything we had, 100% of our budgeted weekly volume (week for us is Mon-Sat) by Thursday of last week and the sales folks had nothing to do on Friday but drink. That's ******* epic for a produce company. Sad as it may be, what I'm taking away from this at the moment is that Thanksgiving is the only time of the year the majority of the US buys fresh veg. I'll have to see if they'll let me aggregate and post some numbers next week.

I propose a kale based fuel, we can call it K85
The sudden increase in popularity caused massive overproduction leading to insane surplus. Now, predictably, the *** has fallen out of the kale market and you almost can't give the stuff away. Right now if you have the misfortune of having it in the ground the overhead for harvest and packing has exceeded the market price. Lots of small growers that jumped in to try to catch the wave are going to lose their *** on that particular gamble.

The irony is that if the price stays so low and the volume is still available, you'll start to see it turn up in super processed foods like tortilla chips and hot pockets. That way people who eat such things as a large percentage of their diet can feel like they are making a 'healthy choice' when they eat the whole box in one sitting.
Anyone remember spinach chips from 4-5 years ago?

Oh yeah, I'd love to see one of his live shows one of these days.
The most ridiculous live stand up I think I've ever seen was Ron White. Holy ****, the "Blue Collar Comedy" show with the other guys is incredibly tame compared to his solo live show.

I saw Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable guy on friday. They actually discussed that. Someone asked if they would ever do Blue Collar comedy again.

Oh yeah, you guys will love this...
I found out yesterday morning from my neighbor that "some kids" tried to steal the Miata while I had it parked on the street. He "chased them off with a flashlight" and called 911. Then the Police showed up and rolled the neighborhood and found nothing. On Friday night. That's right, he waited all weekend to tell me about it.
The car is dirty and there were no fingerprints on the glass, damaged paint, nothing on the rubber window moldings and no smudges in all the dust and dirt on the body or around the door handles. I was about to call bullshit until I called the local PD and they confirmed that yes, they had a unit respond to a 911 call on Friday night on my street but would not give any details beyond that.
Now this is the same old man neighbor who freaks out if I park a car in front of his house overnight (dude, public street, lick my nuts) and who's wife is literally crazy. They are both in their 70's and I'm pretty sure she has some sort of dementia or alzheimer's and he covers for her pretty heavily. In the 4 years I've lived at this address they've had police/fire/EMS respond to their house 4 times for "public assist" calls and once for a heart attack.
Anyway, he's a dick and I'm not sure if I believe him or not. Car is usually parked in my driveway behind the house and off the street, but now I'm uber ******* paranoid
