ROFL I was about to comment on that street name too.
Nope, not I or my bro or my buddy who also has a ton of miata's. Don't think I even know who that is. *EDIT: actually it is my buddy. lol. :) I'll ask him right now |
If that's a factory aluminum hood then I will absolutely find a way to make this work.

All of these on a hood?
I considered putting them in the fenders and using them to pull air out from under the hood, kinda like how the british roadster guys do it: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1466449277 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1466449277 Obviously not my pics but they get the point across. My concern is that while they would probably be functional, they would also require me to cut up my fenders AND engine compartment sheet metal, and they might look a little too 'rice' for me. Hood I can deal with swapping out, fenders are not something I want to tackle regularly. |

I'm using the Subaru vents in my hood. They definitely made a difference.
I did a bit of a hackjob putting them in but they are good. I ended up leaving the screens out of them for better flow. I haven't had the problem with leaves I thought I would. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...712_172819-png https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...712_173236-png https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...712_173332-png Note the peeling clearcoat is merely camouflage hiding how awesome the car really is. |
Woo! I am excite! :yippee:
Shoot me PM, email, text, smoke signal, whatever and we can get it all arranged. I can paypal you now if that's more convenient or bring cash when I come git it. Completely up to you, whatever makes your life easier.:party::party: |

Since you are ignoring me on the Facebook I'm going to publicly shame you into coming to thunderhill September 9th and 10th. Vlad. Don't give G that hood until he has signed up.
|
Aww, wuuut?
Lol, I have no facebook notifications turned on and I check it like MAYBE once every could weeks. I'm sure its lost in the giant swath of other notifications I regularly ignore. |
Well i have your attention now. So what do you say? 2 days with NCRC?
|
Replied, will detail on FB
|
The hood was a bust, but mad props (not that he needs them) to @18psi for hooking a brother up and going to check it out. I cannot thank you enough kind sir :bigtu: :likecat:
|
haha yeah I had a feeling.
99.9% of the bro'z on CL list everything in "MINT" condition, then when you drive 25 miles to their place and waste an hour of your time, they casually mention the "MINOR INPERFECTIONS, HARDLY NOTICEABLE". What that actually means is: a corner of the hood is missing, there is a crack/hole in the actual metal right next to the latch, and the driver side is buckled from it being in a front end impact. I'm so very glad you didn't make the drive all the way out here for that junk. He was dead set on the price too, even after I pointed out that it's seriously damaged. |
Srs, I owe you lunch. Or many beers. Or both.
|
We need to set some meet up when I get back to Sac.
Early November... |
Make it late September and come to miatas@mrls
|
If I finish my car by then, sure! I'll have the slowest NB there lol 3000 pounds with driver
|
You will be faster than the 90 year old wine and cheesers
|
if you can make it for mrls it will be EPIC.
seriously epic I'm really looking forward to this year's event |

Just bought hot laps for both days! I will be at Miata's at MRLS or BUST!!
Car #69 has been reserved. lol. |
I might could conceivably attend this year but would need a place to crash.
|
Do eeeet

^I cant see the image, i'm at work, but I signed up for run group D, both days.
I will be camping at the track. I have all the gear for it, might as well use it. Not paying for a hotel all three days is the same as two sets of race pads lol. |
Hells yeah. Camping is going to be a party. Think we might even get Ed to camp too.
|
I'm really excited! If nothing goes wrong, (big if) I only have about 60 hours of labor, plus tuning with daddy. I should make it.
I normally rip around at 8000 feet, It will be total bliss to track the car at sea level. I also have a teapot and pot set, alcohol fueled, so we can all have a gay tea party each night! |
hahaha we will need to take a group picture of the tea party
|
Duh!
I'm so excited for this! The few people I'm telling over here don't understand. Like, we could all be into painting frescos, its just fun to get together with weird people who all have a similar passion. |
Is being into painting frescos a thing?
Fuckin mormons |
Lol no. That was the first obscure passion I could think of for the analogy.
I also like how we are talking about the same thing in both of these threads. |
I will not be camping. :)
--Ian |
I like camping but I like hot showers more. Is there a MT.net hotel?
|
Camping has hot showers.
|
Lol, I had to check and see if this was actually my build thread for a moment :giggle: Carry on.

I thought that thumpetto was from Utah. Might be wrong. Nothing wrong with them, just suprised they were so into fresco painting.
|
Haha, yup I'm in Utah. ;) thanks for paying attention bb
You and vlad will be first to ride in my car. all three of us. Just figure out who is bottom. |
lol
what part of Utah? grew up there. grew up Mormon, have no idea what is fresco painting, don't feel like googling. :dunno: :dealwithit: |
fresco painting has little if anything to do with mormons.
|
PAINT ME LIKE ONE OF YOUR FRENCH GURLZZ
:magna: |
|
Its kinda funny how your build thread never gets updated because:
I did actually drive it a couple days this last week, but I need to do an oil change and a brake fluid flush this week before I can drive it in anger. I also need to flush the ethylene glycol antifreeze out of the engine and replace it with distilled + water wetter. |
Did you ever even fix the stem seals?
|
nah....
Not driven, no reason to fix -- Logic. |

Remember how after laguna you were sure you were going to get seats, and harnesses, and new tires, and then track it a bunch. Now we are 5 days away from laguna, and how much of that did you do? :fawk:
Are you still on your 10 year old NT01s? |
Ok, you guys are going to love this: the last fuel receipt I have for this car is from May of 2016 for 5.2gal of CA91. The receipt previous to that one is from September 4 2015 when I topped up with 100 on Sunday at last years M@MRLS.
I think I should probably pump out the tank and fill it with fresh CA91 :hahano: |
|
Ok, IDK WTF that is but its freaking me out.

pump it out and fill it with fresh e85.
then we can proceed to kill ourselves when you get wheelspin in 5th ...it's the logical thing to do |
Also, I've had them stashed in my garage in garbage bags while not in use. While not optimal, they should be fine to use. The temps here are mild enough that this is the last thing I'm worried about. Maybe tires next year, if I get back into this. Right now I can't justify the expense.
Could be worse, my RS-3 have a production date in late 2010 and have been on the car since March of 2011. I just finally wore the "Ventus" and flame logo off the center sipe :giggle:

Vlad has truck. Vlad has e85. Vlad brings e85 in barrels to laguna or it gets the hose.

All of California is expensive but Monterey County is for whatever reason full on retarded expensive to live in. I believe this county has the highest gap between average income and home prices of anywhere else in the state right now. The average price for homes on the market in this county is something ridiculous like $700k. That's SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS - AVERAGE. I live in Salinas CA, an AG town with a gang problem that is the joke of pretty much all the surrounding areas yet I can't touch anything in my neighborhood that I'd be willing to live in for under half a million (check zillow, 93901 south of highway 101.) I make enough that we were not in any kind of trouble, but the last couple years have been tight and we've had to make sure we live within our means. Dumping our savings into a down payment for a $500,000 home is not exactly something I've been willing to do as of late. I'm actually quite proud that we never touched our savings and never carried debt, but the other side of that frugality has meant no racecar spending. It sucks, but that is reality. I'm tired of paying rent but I'm also not willing to spend $300k on a half a duplex or a condo with a $300/mo HOA that won't let me wrench on anything or a 700sq/ft shed that was built in 1902. My only hope right now is to wait for another correction or move out of the area and get another job. Monk was talking about hiring at the tribology lab over in the ramble thread a couple weeks ago so I looked up real estate in Huntington, Indiana (from his sig.) I could damn near pay cash for a 3 bed 2 bath 1500sq/ft with detached 2 car garage/shop. It just about made me cry. SO yeah, motivation to work on the car and thus spend money has been incredibly low. |
