I made mine from a 2" trailer ball. Drilled & tapped, then polished to a mirror shine. Then, I had the guys at work nickel plate it for me.

I love the added mass, but the damn thing gets as hot as a pottery kiln in the mid summer. Hot enough to sear flesh. I cover it with an emptied hacky sack.

I bought the black one. If nickel plate gets hot, black does it quicker!

Ditto the feel of the thing (though yours would be even heavier), and ditto covering it when parking in the sun.

I have the same wrinkly bleck voodoo on mine. Is nice, but gets hot as hell if you leave the top down on a sunny day.

That's ridiculous, lol. I used to have a big heavy Blox stainless **** that I think was polished and anodized grey in the NB? It looked really awesome, I liked it a lot but I kinda ruined it with a pipe wrench after it got stuck on my shifter. It would get hotter than hell on hot days, my wife actually knitted me a koozy for it I still have the koozy but the **** is gone.

I had no idea these were so popular

If you are doing harness loom stuff grab a roll of
Tesa Tape Tesa Tape
, otherwise 3M Scotch is usually my play for actual tasks where I need actual electrical tape.

HAHAHAHA! I'm dying right now What if I told you I'm not done yet and its going to get worse? Much MUCH worse? Stay tuned for more insanity.

About the only bad decision I haven't made yet is actually driving the car. Its got a tank full of probably year+ old Massachusetts gas topped off with a couple gallons of CA91 that needs to be vacated, and I need to dial back the base timing to 6°BTDC because this version of the JRSC has no timing control. After I replaced the CAS o-ring I just slapped it back in and never checked the timing, and I discovered late last week that my 20+ year old Summit timing light is dead. Amazon has missed their delivery window on the new Innova light I ordered to replace it by several days, though its looking like it should get here today or tomorrow.

Very much definitely want to drive it again, but must resist!

this is our go to for harness tape. been on the lfx swap for going on five years and still perfect, it conforms with convoluted split loom tubing very nicely: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Roll-of-E...YAAOxywCJRa5vS

I went to the junkyard on Sunday to grab some parts for a friends racecar and stumbled across this magnificent pile of WTF:

2000 Jaguar XJ XJ8!

A SUPERCHARGED Jaguar XJ XJ8! It's no Vanden Plas, but I'd love to pull the entire 4.0 v8 and supercharger out of this and do something naughty with it. It's something like 390hp in factory trim.

Where was I going with this post? Oh yeah...

On Sunday I discovered it takes me approximately 10 minutes to go from running car to this point:

I spent some quality time with a carbide cutter in the Dremel and hogged out out the holes on the mounting bracket. I didn't take a picture because I didn't want the extra fine metal splinters getting in my phone. That cutting resulted in this:

That looks dramatically better, and it runs pretty much where it should.

I'm not convinced the blower is entirely square to the belt drive but at least its not trying to flip the belt off the front of the drive pulley when I blip the throttle. Time to get some actual miles on this once my new timing light arrives

@E02k Boy do I feel attacked. Once upon a time I've had a tonneau, crazy red italian horn, still have my luggage rack, and i was not thrilled with the voodoo shift ****. The only thing I am missing is that glue in trunk organizer pouch thing that attaches to the underside of the lid.

Wasn't intended as an attack I just kinda guessed, to me it seemed pretty on-brand for you, that's all.

Although, how is your car not classic red? Seriously.

Yes, you sent it to me some time ago. I tried to machine out the marks, and made a bit of a mess of it. I plan to cut a groove and make a leather band for it someday.

My non car people friends had to replace a car that died and, even after I expressly said no cheap old luxury cars, what did they buy? A 1996 XJ6 Vanden plas with 240k miles for $1500..... I think they may have you beat for bad choices.

For those curious, it was in the shop every other week for the 6 months they had it before they sold it to a mechanic friend....

I love my Mishi ****, I ground off the stupid Mishi logo at the top and added a RevLimiter insert and filled the whole thing with some lead.

If you really want that OEM+ Sauce, you can get some 1157 "Switchback" LED bulbs for the turn signals. They're white for the DRL/ driving light, go amber for turn signal. I love mine for early morning/ late afternoon driving where you want the light for safety but don't need the full illumination of headlights.

Its also not a real M.net thread until someone asks how a power modification affects gas mileage...

Ohhhh! Hah! I remember this! You were going to try to fix it then I think it got lost? Damn, that was a while ago.

What is this jimmy hat of which you speak?

I think I already bought LED bulbs for the side markers? Don't know if those turn signal or not, its been a while since I've consciously looked at an NA.

I assure you my modifications will affect my gas mileage

Also, its clearly been a while since I hung out on miata.net as that place seems completely dead. Or maybe its just the NA/NB section? I've had a WTB thread up for a couple days now and only 8 people have viewed it. It does make me wonder about the readership over there, I know Facefuck groups are killing everything and dragging everything down to the lowest common denominator, but man, taking out m.net seems wild.

We're dinosaurs boys! (and girls!) Get used to it I guess.

I saw someone say "back in the days of forums" the other day and it physically hurt me.
