Cat lady Michelle from west linn took decent care of it. Lots of paint scuffs, half of which will buff out. Interior is in decent shape, needs a few plastic panels, like the a pillar plastic. And the piece behind the dead pedal. And the rear deck carpet is missing. Oh, and no floor mats.

After the diff, I would feel much more comfortable if all fluids were changed. Mainly engine, tranny, and diff. Then it definitely needs a timing belt, pullies, timing covers, and water pump.

How much would a 3.9 Torsen sell for with a broken arm?

More pictures:

Nail polish looking stuff on some paint scuffs, along with some tape goo that was holding on the rear bumper for the tow ride here.

Bumper and front of the hood look like this, lots of paint chips. The hood VIN apparently doesn't match the chassis VIN, so along with the '94-'97 intake tube, I'm guessing it was in a little bit of a front end accident, and was poorly resprayed.

Worst of the body damage is this gouge on the mouth of the front bumper. Air guide and under tray look fine as far as I can see.

More tape goo on the back bumper.

More tape goo! And a broken turn signal light. Also you can see some damage on the leading edge of the bumper.

And a couple nice pictures of the body. In general it's pretty good for a '99.

You can see the funky hood gap on the leading edge here. Not sure what they usually look like, but the gap looks a little big.

The real damage is underneath. 2nd cat (?) has a broken weld. I can reweld it when we remove everything for the diff fix.

And the broken diff arm. You've all seen it before...

And in the process of emptying out the trunk we found this. Like I said, cat lady Michelle. And the damage on the back bumper. I think a lot of this can be buffed out.

To be clear, I would daily drive the **** out of this Miata. So nice inside, AC is ice cold, and the blue is REALLY growing on me. Too bad it's not mine. Keep forgetting that...

34B. Size 6 jeans, medium sweater. Typical cat lady. Nothing special. The sparkly bra gave me hope though.

Talk to TurboFan. He's still considering swapping tubs, although I believe after fixing the rear quarter and fender, his MSM will have half the cosmetic issues this 10AE has, if not less. If he does swap tubs, he won't need any little costs like that, like lights and stuff. He'll be hard pressed to break even after swapping wiring and tubs like he wants to.

Don't get me wrong, I love it. But it's definitely a driver, not a show car.

My single friend Ginny modeling the trunk's contents. Sunglassses and all. She refused to wear either of the cat lady's bras.

Props distributed to Josh and JC for their awesomeness. I haven't even seen the car yet. JC paid for the car, arranged towing through his uncle, met his uncle at the auction house and followed him to Josh's house to start tinkering. And of course Josh is awesome for offering his place and reassembling the rear of the car! I'm going to go see the car Thursday and determine where to go from there, but at this time I'm planning to fix the car and sell it for profit, then use that profit to fix the MSM.

Either way, sounds like I way super lucked out on this car! Soooo glad for that, as I was afraid I had horribly overpaid.

Thanks again for everyone's input and support! Wish I could just keep both cars!

I'm sorry to be the voice of bad news, but this car is kind of a turd in a lot of areas, it needs a lot of work, I had the pleasure of seeing it tonight and while it has some admirable qualities, there is a lot wrong that needs fixing. At the end you end up with a car that has been totaled and it's going to be hard to sell for a profit IMHO. It would make a great track car or daily beater. I'm not trying to be a negative influence, but honestly I think he best profit would be to part it out.

well that car is under 3k as it sits you spend 1.5k with a new top and make the car mint that all it needs a front/rear bumper re-spray and to figure the rear diff problem and you have a 10ae under 4.5k where are you gonna find one for that money and when i talk mint is flawless 4.5k ...... plus that car wasn't wrecked hard at all ... that's my 2cents

There was a 10AE on CL for $3750 a couple months back before I wrecked my MSM. It was beat to hell, had 165k miles on it, a leaky top, and a salvage title. It lasted less than a week. Granted, I don't know what it sold for, but this car seems far ahead of that one.

I'm not expecting $3k profit. Shooting for around $1500. At this point I should be able to have it on the road for $3k.
