Does Abe know you have an MSM? They do have different A/C compressors than a regular NB. I don't know what difference that makes but I thought I would mention it.

I would recommend at least XR3s for the fronts on rivals, if not XR2s.
Of course I was running on stock 1.8 brakes, not huge BBK, so YMMV... |

As for using a more aggressive pad than the xr4, I can lock up the fronts on the rivals on demand with these brakes so I think they are probably okay for now. The rivals I am using are near the end of their life so if new tires prove to have substantially more grip I will consider changing brake compounds. |
To do that brake upgrade, do you loose abs?
|
From what I can find, the MSM compressor is significantly smaller and should actually allow for additional clearance.

When I lock up the tires while braking it isn't for very long before the abs engages but it ia definitely noticeable. I would rather not rely on the abs when I am braking because it can be really hard on hot rotors. |
The pics from Sebring are up. I'm contemplating buying. There are some pretty good ones of you on your knees in the garage area earning tire money, lol.

Daytona was awesome! All the way up to the very last lap of the very last session when my motor blew up! I'm pretty sure I shifted into the wrong gear and either threw a rod or lost a valve which then reaked havoc. I had missed a downshift earlier as well so I am sure the rods were already not happy.
Luckily I had a friend who lives fairly close to me who had offered to trailer my car home and let me drive his 5.0 mustang back. We droppee the car at Miata2fast's shop and I'll be starting on the engine swap a little earlier than I planned. Daytona is an incredibly fast track and heavily favors hp over handling. It was still very fun to hit 140mph in the miata on the back straight. Great course, would go again. |
I'm really curious where the oil came from that was all around the engine bay. At least you didn't do it first session Saturday.
|
I am going to have a look later on today to see if I can find the offending hole.

I will post pictures of the carnage. |
It clears the A/C, what about the P/S pump?

- no way is there enough room in our engine bay for P/S and an EWG with an EFR without cutting the shelf. Will the turbo need any additional bracing or should the EWG and associated plumbing provide enough since there are 2 mount points to the manifold? ie. the turbo is not hanging off one manifold mount point AND supporting the downpipe. |

P/S has been deleted which allows the turbo to be mounted further forward to allow room for the EWG plumbing back to the downpipe.

This is what RyanG's Miata looks like from behind. Well, at least when it is running.
Miata enters at :50. |

So I can break it again at the strip.

A few broken axles never hurt anybody.
Wait a minute. You have a Mazdaspeed. No excuses! |
Why do I take a car to any track? To find any weakness and make it stronger. Your old motor had a weakness and you rooted it out. Good job.
