In Soviet Russia car build YOU!
Bryce's replacement turbo arrived today. I was planning on installing it tonight and driving the car a bit.
However, I forgot that turbine housing bolt holes have to be drilled out to 10mm for BALLER INCONEL STUDS. Well, apparently the housing is made out ofunobtanium stainless steel so all my drill bits failed miserably. I ended up basically grinding the holes bigger with a dremel and a fancy tungusten bit. And a hand file. Took only like 3 hours, sigh...
I got everything ready to be installed (rotated turbo, put all the lines in, made sure it seats well with the flange, etc. Installed locking hardware. And then it started to rain.... I really don't want to jack a car up in the rain and then drive 20psi on wet roads. No thanks. And I should mention that it's 3am.
So tomorrow I'll finish it.
As it sits

Except pretty much every event in Texas (tx2k12, texas mile) rapes Unlim 500. Sure the Russians drive a bunch of expensive cars - but maybe 2 of them are actually built by Russians.
Oh I never said anything about building them on their own
Its mostly filthy rich "new" Russians that wrote a check and received a fully built *insert exotic here*
Still though, 300whp aint what it used to be, here and there :(

For that type of work I use a round file (tang cut off) in a hand drill to save time and energy.

Used a file too and it worked for 3 out of 4 holes. The last hole has maybe 2cm of space before file hits the casing. Dremel bit is a little bit quicker.
In general I find hand drills are easier to hold and have a lot more power so you can really crank down on the work piece and get things done
Car is idling as I type this. Burning off the production oils and whatever off the turbonator. I'mma warm it up, let it cool down a bit, then warm it up again, then drive in an hour or so.
It feels good just watching it idle without smoke out of the tailpipe.

You going to follow the break in directions for the turbo?
