I routinely run Valero or whatever the cheapest+closest CA91 is and I never see any excessive knock retard on "lower quality" fuels. IOW, I hunt and peck for cheap gas just like anyone else filling the tank on their DD. Your tune shouldn't be so ragged-edge that it requires a specific brand of gas anyway.

Ok. Well the only other change was autotuning the VE table. I also wasnt doing as long of pulls. I was only doing single gear pulls. So maybe it wasn't getting as hot.

Does anybody have any ideas about the max and min duty cycles being funky?

I had to go a page back to find out what you were talking about.

No idea but first some troubleshooting. Have you verified that your solenoid is hooked up properly in regards to vacuum and electrical? One thing that I am thinking - what ECU do you have? Have you verified that the ECU you have provides power when 100% or ground when 100%?

The way MY car is set up, I have 12v coming from... somewhere, I don't recall, and going to the EBC solenoid. Verify that you are getting 12v to the solenoid.

Next, verify that you DON'T see continuity with ground when you test the other feed to the EBC solenoid at 0% duty cycle. Then test at 100% duty cycle and see if you are getting continuity with ground.

Then, verify that at 0% duty cycle that you can freely blow through the ebc solenoid using the ports you are using for your boost controller. (I don't have a EFR so I can't tell you how it all goes together). Finally, put your ebc solenoid at 100% (you should hear it buzzing if it's like the MAC solenoid) and check to verify that you CANNOT blow through the solenoid.

Also, I see that the frequency used for the EFR solenoid should be at or less than 32hz. Make sure that a compatible frequency is set in boost control settings.

If all of the above is correct, you SHOULD be able to at least tune open loop.

The solenoid does work. I can adjust the cells in the bias table and it will respond. It just doesn't seem do anything when I change the DC% Max and Min values. I don't see a huge improvement in spool. It went from 4600ish to 4200ish rpm.

What PSI by 4,200? That seems REALLY slow.

Here, see for yourself:
EBC 18%.msl This is min DC%
EBC 90%.msl Max DC%
Max 95%.msl Max DC%

Did you watch Greg's boost control video? He explains the logic behind it pretty well.
You need the wastegate shut until you reach your target. You do that by doing a 5th gear pull from 1500 rpm or so.

What is your Boost Control Lower Limit delta. It should be 25kpa or lower.

Darn, I didn't bring my laptop to work today. I will have to look at that log when I get home. Does it (the 95% log) stay "max duty" till 4,200rpm?

I seem to remember that I couldn't get the EBC that came with the EFR to work with my MS3. This in and of itself means nothing as I have no idea what I'm doing, but I seem to remember @18psi couldn't get it to work either, so I've tagged him so maybe he can give some input.

The 4 port MAC valve works great though.

the valve on yours was dead. as in, doesn't even power up or even respond to voltage in any way. Defective?

Yes I saw his video. I'll post a screen shot of my table when I get home. It seems pretty aggressive to me. But its no where near done. (Looks like *** )

I didn't bring my laptop today either. So will check this afternoon. One of you guys might be able to look at my tune that I posted on the last page and see what's up with that, although it will be slightly different than what so have now.

I'm having trouble with mine as well. Apparently I need to figure out if the solenoid is even operational.

I have tuned several EFRs with the standard EBC valve on MS3, so there's no inherent issue with the combo. I'll post my EBC settings in a sec. They aren't perfect, but they are close.

e: Ha, pretty basic. I'm sure this can be improved on. I don't think I've actually determined min/max and the delta should definitely be lower. I've spent most of my time on the slider bar settings and advanced PID, but I also haven't focused on completely dialing it in yet.

Andrew, do you still have the 6758 in your car?

Boost Control Lower Limit delta needs to be wayyyy smaller. Try 25kpa or something drop it as low as you can without affecting overshoot.

I have got some violent overshoot with closed loop that I fear for my engine. It seems that 1.4 firmware is not about copying the open loop values anymore.
