one question. See how cyl 1 and cyl 4 are spiking at almost the same time? Well, cyl 1 only spikes to 8%. same thing with cyl 3. So my question is, why are they spiking the same amount (height wise) on the log if the actual % is not as much as cyl 2 and 4?
Manually scale the knock sensor graph so that 0% is the bottom and 25% is the top. In that graph, the spike of 8% appears the same as a spike of 12% because of the auto-ranging scale. Normally auto-ranging is great, but not in this case.

Yeah, auto-ranging is great when you're looking at variables that are independent, but if you want to compare two then you need to force manual scaling.
If you ever try to instrument and compare various pressure reading (MAP, pre-intercooler, turbine inlet, pre-cat, etc) then you'll want to do this as well.

No, in MegaLogViewer. Normally, MLV looks through the log and sets the top and bottom of the displayed range based upon the highest and lowest values it finds in the log. This means that if cylinder 2 peaks at a value of 80%, but spends most of its time at 40%, then it will look lower than cylinder 3 which peaks at 35%, but spends most of its time at 35%.
To fix this, go into 'Calculated Fields', 'Fixed Field Min and Max', then 'Add Fixed Field'. Set the min and max on all 4 cylinder knock values to the same levels, and now you can compare them visually.

Perfect! Thanks Ian. Just got that dialed in. Looks much better now.
That's knock on cyl#2. Not a lot, not very bad, but a tiny bit. You can also see a little on cyl around the 2sec mark. Could be as simple as running the car too lean there (12.4:1 in that range). I would fatten it up to 11.8 and pull 2deg of timing at that boost level. There's also a little puff of knock at 9.413s in the same log.
Andrew, my log shows 11.8. So pull timing instead? EDIT: Doh, you were refereeing to a different knock point. My bad....again.

Speaking of questions and putting up with me...in the morning 3 log (all of the above) around the 9sec mark for example there is 12% knock in cyl 4. So when I'm looking at the spark table, the cross section of 5600RPM and 157kpa is 19.8. But in the log it knocks at 17.9*. Soooo.... I'm kinda confused. Do I pull 2* from the 19.8?
If the engine knocks reduce timing by the lower cell. I would get a headphone-knock set up and solve your knock on the dyno where it's safe.
Did you cross your spark table with the spark in the log? Does your ecu actually reduce timing?

Keep in mind that it's extrapolating between four cells. You can load your current tune into MLV on the righthand side and see exactly where the trace dot is. That will give you a better idea of which cells are having the greatest impact on the actual figure.

Your engine is knocking. Start by reducing 3 degrees in your 178 and 157 rows from 3000 rpm. Your car will feel slower but you will be safe until you can hear knock with headphones and live tune your ignition table for safe power.

Pulling that much timing across the board is a band-aid, and will spike your EGTs if your run it like that at the track. Helps the rods and pistons, sure, but not so good for the exhaust valves.
