I assume this is FICA. If so, that statistic is rather misleading since about only half of Americans pay net FICA. So the actual number is double that for Americans who pay net FICA.
And of the $15k for food, clothes, health care: average health care per American is $10k so only $5k for food and clothes. Yeah.
