The votes coming out of California could be the absolute story of the midterms. That is unless we start seeing a bunch of perp-walks a few weeks prior to the elections...

When is the last time that bureaucrats were held accountable for their actions?
Aside from We the People, it's not in anyone's best interest to acknowledge fraud and corruption within government, much less do anything about it.
The Democrats and the Republicans are not stupid. They know that they have a good thing going, having created a duopoly which presents nearly insurmountable barriers to entry for anyone who would challenge their collective hold on power. All they have to do is keep a majority of voters either dependent upon them for handouts, or convinced that they (the politician of choice) are the only thing standing between them (the voter) and total catastrophe (the other politician.)
Everyone who bought into Trump's promises during the 2024 cycle is proof of this. But few of them will acknowledge it.

I generally agree with your sentiment. Too often the government holds up the shiny object while doing something bad behind our backs. I think that was USAID in a nutshell. 90% of the money didn't make it to the intended recipient?! That's the waste/fraud/abuse poster child, and why the whole goal should be to reduce the size of government as a whole.
I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that the Big Beautiful Bill passed the House and Senate right before Congress was set to go home for the 4th of July celebrations, kissing babies and making patriotic speeches. Shocked. Those lucky, performative representatives won't be spending the weekend making tweaks to the bill while missing their BBQ, corn on the cob and sparklers at home.
I'm still fixated on increasing the SALT cap. So much I can't be impartial, HA.
Looks like your SALT cap increase has come. I benefit some from it, but it’s small consolation for living in a blue state.
Frankly, the wailing of the lefty politicians over losing it would have been worth the price.
This is the first I've heard of it; CNN decided to televise their first Trump Rally at Butler, and that CNN also decided to bring a slow-motion camera for some reason. Hmmm......

He was supposed to announce his VP pick that day. But you never know -- Ask Roger Stone.
here's what grok has to say:
No, the claim is false. CNN provided live TV coverage of several Trump rallies in 2024 before Butler (e.g., June 18, 22, 28; July 9), expecting VP pick news. No evidence they brought a unique slow-motion camera or had foreknowledge of the shooting.

It's all just theatrics, designed to distract attention away from the fact that the current administration is still continuing the same old grift.
Take DOGE, for instance. They claim to have saved roughly $190 billion at date. And even if we take that number at face value, it's a drop in the bucket.
(4) DEFICITS.—For purposes of the enforcement of this resolution, the amounts of the deficits are as follows:
Fiscal year 2025: $936,265,000,000.
Fiscal year 2026: $961,632,000,000.
Fiscal year 2027: $1,073,837,000,000.
Fiscal year 2028: $1,239,653,000,000.
Fiscal year 2029: $1,177,366,000,000.
Fiscal year 2030: $1,265,422,000,000.
Fiscal year 2031: $1,282,320,000,000.
Fiscal year 2032: $1,321,278,000,000.
Fiscal year 2033: $1,466,642,000,000.
Fiscal year 2034: $1,404,891,000,000.
(5) PUBLIC DEBT.—Pursuant to section 301(a)(5) of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 (2 U.S.C. 632(a)(5)), the appropriate levels of the public debt are as follows:
Fiscal year 2025: $36,525,094,000,000.
Fiscal year 2026: $37,838,733,000,000.
Fiscal year 2027: $39,140,384,000,000.
Fiscal year 2028: $40,566,455,000,000.
Fiscal year 2029: $42,102,586,000,000.
Fiscal year 2030: $43,583,333,000,000.
Fiscal year 2031: $45,068,345,000,000.
Fiscal year 2032: $46,595,036,000,000.
Fiscal year 2033: $48,382,716,000,000.
Fiscal year 2034: $50,481,979,000,000.
Got that? It is the stated goal of the present Republican-majority Congress to increase the annual spending deficit from $936 billion this year to $1.4 TRILLION by 2034. That the amount of *new* debt being added each year.
They wish to increase the total debt from $36 trillion to $50 trillion during the same period.
The fact that anyone still uses the term "conservative" to describe these people is absurd.
