homeownership is expensive, and a bit overrated.

love this uncle tom:
On Thursday, retired NFL safety Burgess Owens identified left-wing and Democrat policies and attitudes as forming the core of social dysfunction among blacks. He rejected the "socialist, liberal, Marxist" framing of blacks as put upon and victimized by whites.
Owens offered his comments while joining Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity.
Increasing “misery” among blacks is a “political strategy” used by Democrats and leftists, said Owens:
NFL players pushing anti-American racial agitation were politically misled, said Owens:
Owens credited and praised President Donald Trump for helping push Democrat and left-wing racial agitation to the forefront of national political discourse:

Increasing “misery” among blacks is a “political strategy” used by Democrats and leftists, said Owens:
83 percent of black teen males [are] not working, 77 percent of black men abandon their families; I mean, I go through the litany of failure, and it’s all because of a Democratic socialist agenda to make sure that misery is used as political strategy.
Let me tell you what the flag represents and what our country represents; it’ a place of hope, it’s a place of second chances, and we have these young men that are literally millionaires… with billions of dollars represented on that sideline, and they have no clue that we the people - they - are the solution, because they’ve been brought up in this socialist, liberal, Marxist environment in which they’re not given hope.
…
The Democratic Party has failed the black community for decades. I’m sick and tired of us being portrayed as a hapless race, that white people did all these things to us, because we don’t know our history. So let’s man up, learn our history, find out that not only did we give a lot to this country, but we got a lot from this country. We’re the freest country in the history of mankind.

I’m very, very proud to have a president who has the courage and the love for our country to have this come up as a topic. This is a national conversation we should’ve been having many years. The problem we’re having in the black community is the lack of hope did not just appear over the last few months; it’s been eight, ten years; with a black president who never addressed the issues that are now happening in the black community.

"Trump also threw his support last month behind a bill co-sponsored by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), one of the most hard-line immigration lawmakers in Congress, that would dramatically slash the number of people coming to the U.S. every year by cutting down on the number of green cards given out as well as scaling back the refugee program. The bill would also prioritize English-speaking immigrants and ending the immigration lottery program."
I love how Buzzfeed uses the terms "hard line" and "dramatically slash" to describe this legislation... As for data collection, isn't the goverment gathering every bit and byte of ALL our data now? I'm not a fan and I don't agree. To feel bad for a subset of people is like saying, "Nuclear holocaust coming soon, women and children most affected."

It's interesting to hear you say this.
Right now, Sinclair Broadcast Group is in the process of purchasing Tribune Media, which owns WGN, the TV station where I work.
There are all sorts of stories flying around about how this merger will create the largest right-leading media group in history, how it'll silence liberal voices, etc.
As usual, these stories imply that a political agenda exists, in this case, a right-wing one.
This one, however, was quite interesting, as it was a reasonably well-researched piece written by a responsible newspaper: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/08/b...pposition.html

The Times and The Post are much maligned by the MAGA crowd, but the fact is that they actually still do investigative reporting and responsible journalism, verify information with multiple sources, and in general seek out stories of actual importance to report on.

Is it sad that my first thought was "Hmm, what will the political spin coming off of this event look like?"
Luscious fodder for the anti-2A crowd. Can't think of a strong pro-2A argument to be made.
