the government literally and intentionally poisoned its own citizen's through industrial alcohol because of regulations...meanwhile, those who could afford going to speakeasys or church, had access to the non-posioned stuff.

why do florists and hairdressers need licenses by the government? Why can't I call whiskey from VA bourbon?

And why does it take 3x the hours of training to be a hair dresser than to become a police officer in basically every state in the country?

Not sure if this is a serious question, but I'll respond as though it were.

You can.

The Code of Federal Regulations, Title 27, Chapter I, Subchapter A, Part 5, Subpart C, Section 5.22 "The standards of identity" requires only that any distilled spirit called "bourbon" must be produced in the United States. Specifically:

(l)Class 12; products without geographical designations but distinctive of a particular place.

(1) The whiskies of the types specified in paragraphs (b) (1), (4), (5), and (6) of this section are distinctive products of the United States and if produced in a foreign country shall be designated by the applicable designation prescribed in such paragraphs, together with the words “American type” or the words “produced (distilled, blended) in __”, the blank to be filled in with the name of the foreign country: Provided, That the word “bourbon” shall not be used to describe any whisky or whisky-based distilled spirits not produced in the United States. If whisky of any of these types is composed in part of whisky or whiskies produced in a foreign country there shall be stated, on the brand label, the percentage of such whisky and the country of origin thereof.

Well... everyone born in these United States of America knows how to shoot a gun from moment of birth. Wielding a clipper or a set of scissors demands much more finesse and training, otherwise someone's hair will not look right. And then there's the Hairdresser lobby.

Still no sarcasm font...

No deep state. Just deep ****.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fri...%20-%20Text%29

A friend of Christine Blasey Ford told FBI investigators that she felt pressured to clarify her original statement regarding an alleged sexual assault involving Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Ford identified Leland Ingham Keyser, a former classmate, as having attended a house party Maryland in the early 1980s, in which she accused Kavanaugh of pinning her to a bed, attempting to remove her clothes and putting his hand over her mouth when she tried to scream.

Keyser originally said in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sept. 23 she “does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present.” After Kavanaugh and Ford testified in front of the committee last week, Keyser wrote a letter to the committee dated Sept. 29 that said she did not refute Ford’s claims, but “is unable to corroborate it because she has no recollection of the incident in question," according to CNN.

Keyser told the investigators that she was -- as the Journal notes -- urged to clarify her statement by Monica McLean, a former FBI agent and friend of Ford’s, the paper reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

i so many smarts.

The Senate has voted 51 to 49 to end debate and advance the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to a full confirmation vote, expected to take place tomorrow. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) voted no. Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), and Susan Collins (R-ME) voted yes.

however i was not expecting those murkowski and manchin votes... but she's from AK so it makes sense; they like slick billy.

A little bit, actually. Murder convictions are extremely rare in police shootings.

It's been a very busy news day. Even with the 2nd degree murder conviction, the crowds wanted 1st degree, and seem unsure as to whether to riot or not. We've got tens of thousands of people marching through the streets, and the biggest police presence I have ever seen in my life (including UN week in Manhattan) but as of yet, no major violence.

Control 2 has been on the air non-stop since 10am, with no sign that they'll be stopping any time soon. We actually had to bring in more chairs.

We actually did run out of high-chairs in the studio. A set that was designed and lit to hold a maximum of five talent has seven people on it right now. After taking this photo, I found a couple of phone books for the guy on the left to sit on, since that's a chair we swiped out of someone's office and is thus lower than the rest.

The really weird part is that we very nearly caused a small riot ourselves. The News Director decided to cancel the taping of the Man of the People show, AFTER the audience had arrived.

To be fair, cancelling it was the correct decision, and there was really no way we could have contacted the whole audience prior to their arrival, but there were still some strong words being thrown around by a bunch of very unhappy people.

what are the chances that this person just didn't want to be involved after watching what happened? pretty good for most anyone. Who would want any part of that. she could have been telling the truth, without realizing that her life would be changed, possibly forever. death threats and crazy people are a real thing.

Assuming that your mobile device is an Android, iThing, or Windows Mobile, use the following procedure:

1: Paste the text.

2: Place your finger against the screen at each location where a line break ought to be. This will cause the cursor to appear at that location.

3: Press the button which I have circled in the image below twice.

4: Repeat from step 2 until all line breaks have been inserted.

If you are using a Blackberry, a Nintendo Switch, or similar, then I assume a comparable procedure exists, but cannot provide specific instructions for those platforms.

Just got the TV ratings from yesterday. During the trial coverage and the aftermath, WGN was #1 in the market by a fairly large margin. Beat ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC. Not bad for a little independent station whose heritage is based on a clown and a sock-puppet.

I think the judicial system is starting to realize the general public as a whole, not just minorities, are tired of the double standard. And they want to be elected back into those positions! Which is good in my opinion, even my full-of-**** self can't perform enough mental gymnastics to say that someone who is running away from me is an imminent threat to my life.

Perhaps if said person was running to press the button that would detonate the bomb, start WWIII, etc.

Side note: I really dig all the pics you share of the news room and engineering infrastructure at the station.
