After years of listening to Brainey insist that the legacy media have a socialist political agenda, it's refreshing to see someone other than myself point out that, no, they are merely adjusting their narrative to best serve their own financial self-interest in light of the political climate of the day.
I wonder what it would have been like if this thread had existed in 1972. Would we accuse Woodward & Bernstein of going on a witch-hunt against Nixon, merely because he encouraged a few Cubans to go on a self-guided tour of a hotel and office complex and treated Martha Mitchell to a free vacation in California?

The link is hardly proof that there's right wing MSM. To the contrary, they're all woke (see how they spend their dollars during the elections) but the second wealthiest man in the world thinks that perhaps a different kind of journalism will keep him from hemorrhaging money at WaPo.

Last month I would have said: But JP, look at their ratings, that doesn't support their own financial self-interest.
Then I learned the federal government was paying them to be a socialist political agenda propaganda machine for their own financial self-interest.
When those funds started getting cut-off, suddenly MSNBC and the rest of the MSM has been on a anchor firing spree. (Weird that an employer would clean house when they don't perform well, sounds fascist).
Joy Reid, Lester Holt, Alex Wagner, Katie Phang (1st Asian host and worst rated!), Jonathan Capehart, Ayman Mohyeldin and José Díaz-Balart, I believe there are more...
So maybe we were both right?

There is no evidence that suggests Nixon ever ordered or encouraged that tour.
there is plenty of evidence that suggests he tried to stonewall and stop the investigation after the fact -- probably because it could have led to other discoveries about things he was actually aware of.
I don't often plug podcasts because it makes me feel the same way I do when I talk about my watch collection to people I know who have zero interest but I cant help myself... kinda guilty but it gives me a semi anyways...
If you haven't listened to JRE #2272 with Mike Benz... it's worth every second of the 3hrs episode.

I am genuinely curious as to the context in which people find the time to dedicate to listening to three-hour-long monologues of this nature.
Not judging, I just cannot figure out where I would fit that sort of thing into my schedule.
Anyway, the following should not be construed as me making any sort of commentary on the Trump / Musk situation, I merely found today's SMBC cartoon amusing.
You've seen some unexpected fallout as well; the restaurants that haven't already folded are keeping the tips for themselves, as the wait staff is getting a new minimum wage.
And this is more timely, but still three years old:
It was calculated that we could get Russia to invade the Ukraine if we threatened to allow them into NATO. Russia sees it as an existential threat, much like if China or Russia were to put huge military bases in the Bahamas, Cuba, Tijuana, and Nuevo Laredo and welcome those countries into the Eastern Bloc.
Mexico must be cooperating. I saw a Mexican national interviewed (on X) that said the Mexican government was killing 20-30 cartel members every day in and around Tijuana.
Z is too full of himself. He's pissed off Trump and Vance now.
We've been re-playing and dissecting the meeting between the two. I gotta admit, I was actually a tad surprised when Zelinsky finally shifted into "sheepishly ashamed" mode.
Anyway, I've been seeing a lot of "economic blackout" type posts on the social media, mostly from left-leaning friends of mine who are still convinced of... I'm honestly not even sure what anymore. But they're quite certain that it's bad, and they would rather have the good thing instead.
This popped up in a non-leftist thread:
As someone who plans to visit the grocery store this afternoon, a part of me wonders whether all of these day-long boycotts aren't being secretly promoted by people who have no particular political axe to grind, but merely live in majority-leftist cities and are using this as a means to create opportunities for themselves to go shopping in relative peace and calm, without the usual crowds.
