The Current Events, News, and Politics Thread
Ready for a big thread drift? None of them.... just buy a handgun.
Most home intruders that are going to flee at the sound of a shotgun 'rack' will do the same if you simply turn on a light. It's the ones that know you are there, and don't care, that you really have to worry about. I'd rather have tactical surprise on my side than telegraph my position and intent to someone on the other side of a door.
First, shotguns are large and cumbersome in a home environment. They have heavy recoil. At in-home distances, they still need to be aimed, having about a 3-4" pattern with buckshot across the length of a typical home. Clearing corners with shotguns is difficult, and creates a situation where they are easy to defeat at contact distances. Most hold 3-4 rounds, and increasing that capacity makes them even more unwieldy. The Mossberg linked above is a pistol grip shotgun... probably the most difficult type to employ effectively, especially for folks who don't train regulary. And I can tell you, you're not going to want to train with any regularity on a pistol grip 12ga.
Second, pump shotguns require a number of fine motor skills to keep them running after those first 3-4 shots. One of the first things that goes under stress is fine motor skills. I've trained professionals for going on 25 years, and there are very few that can keep a pump shotgun effective in a fight for more than 3-4 rounds past the magazine capacity.
Sure, there's specialty shotguns, and short-barreled NFA stuff that will work a little better, but most aren't going that route.
Buy a handgun, and train with it. It's much easier to operate effectively in a residential environment, easier to shoot, easier to store/secure and holds way more rounds without having to reload.

| September 09, 2020 04:43 PMCuban-born Maximo Alvarez, whose parents fled Fidel Castro’s regime, said Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is “influenced by radical people.”
“I will no longer use the word ‘socialist’ because this happened in my country, this is in my bones, this is in my body. Socialism is just a name that communists use to fool you. And Mr. Biden may be or may not be, but I'm telling you, his policies, he's being totally influenced by radical people,” Alvarez told Fox News’s Bill Hemmer on Wednesday.
Alvarez fled Cuba to the United States in 1961 as part of Operation Pedro Pan, which brought more than 14,000 minors to the U.S. as dictator Fidel Castro rose in power in Cuba. He went on to found Sunshine Gasoline Distributors in South Florida.
Alvarez said that countries such as Cuba and Venezuela have been destroyed by communism and warned the same could hit the U.S. if President Trump doesn’t continue “putting America first.”

Now that all of these far-left folks are discovering the miracle of constitutionally-protected firearm ownership, I wonder how they'd feel about purchasing guns via mail.
Nah, too risky. There might be fraud. Better to have in-person transactions and an ID check.

You yet again should actually check what you are posting. This image is fake. The dealership owner did not kill themselves.
