The Current Events, News, and Politics Thread
I don't have data to support, but having lived in murder neighborhoods, overly hot nights seemed to have the highest positive correlation with gunshots. I always just assumed that it was people who had spent their money on pistols instead of air conditioners expressing the natural consequence of their purchasing habits.

Some oil tankers blew up. There's some evidence that they were attacked using limpet mines (which magnetically attach to the hull for later triggering.) Orange man believes that Iran is to blame.

Russian Collusion:
Elizabeth Warren is saying we should break up Google. And like, I love her but she’s very misguided…all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do will be charged with preventing the next Trump situation, it’s like a small company cannot do that.”

Two serious questions:
1: What was the last "Trump situation" within the context of the article you're quoting?
2: What is "The next Trump situation?"
3: Why must it be prevented?
From the same article you got the above from:
“For example, imagine that a Google image query for ‘CEOs’ shows predominantly men. Even if it were a factually accurate representation of the world, it would be algorithmic unfairness because it would reinforce a stereotype about the role of women in leadership positions.

The reason we launched our A.I. principles is because people were not putting that line in the sand, that they were not saying what’s fair and what’s equitable so we’re like, well we are a big company, we’re going to say it,” Gennai claimed.
Wait a sec... Is Google claiming to be the Ministry of Truth? Because that's my job.

Makes sense. I've long held that allowing the masses to vote is problematic.
I'm still having a hard time with:
"Even if it were a factually accurate representation of the world, it would be algorithmic unfairness"
