Calling a rando a hobo, is not great Pr for your business, and said alleged hobo did not appreciate it.

Just a single random instance of speedyefiguy being a douche

have anohter, plugging his **** in a competitor's thread

How about shipping **** with a firmware that does not enable most of the advertised features?

I can't find it right now but the one where he called his customers ""idiots" was pretty sweet, too

The customers are usually idiots. Look at our friend who can't even find the proper thread to post in.

I've got better **** to waste my time on...

Regardless. When the owner of the company is this toxic, I will never support them. Is MS the premier ECU available? Hell no. But their representatives actually act professionally. And if that is a measure of their professionalism, I'm not going to have faith in the product either when they act like a couple of frat boys. And any reputation they make is from their own behaviour. You have a choice where to spend your money, and their actions impact on that, at least for myself and clearly for some others.

Wow! Looks like Chris from speedyefi is pretty hardcore on fb post to clients. Not good business practice for sure.

I will say in full discloser about 6 months ago I bought what they call there fishdog universal ecu. I never researched any facebook posts from them or really anything else for that matter. I basically emailed them and got a response back from Isaac Dalton that seemed professional enough so I took a chance and got one. It was only $250 so not a big gamble. I felt confident I could get it working properly on my setup. After all I ran 6.90's in the 1/8th with a modified fic6 piggyback prior to this lol...

I don't know what board they use on there plug and play, but the universal fishdog uses a ua4c board made by wtmtronics. Even says so on the board and what version. It looks like the speedyefi guys are ordering the assembled boards in bulk from wtmtronics and putting that board assembly in there own case with 3d printed ends. The ua4c boards is one of several third party boards on the speeduino project.
I eventually got this fishdog working fairly well. It has gotten me to 6.57 et and 108 mph in the 1/8th so far. That equates to somewhere in the mid 130s mph in the 1/4, so these can be made to work.

I will say though, this product should not be purchased by someone looking to simply install and go. It is really a product more for someone who is pretty familiar with tuning, wiring, injection systems, ignition systems and how everything correlates. I could not imagine getting something like this for a first build without a fair amount of prior experience. When you buy something like this you have to go into it understanding there will be no real instructions or any support, you will basically be on your own. The only support will be basically to navigate the internet looking for what others have done and use as much of that information for general guidance on your build. The speedyefi guys should put up a disclaimer that they would offer no support for installation or tuning, and that the purchaser should understand that they are getting a basic ecu that is really a development project. If they did that I am sure they would not sell as many ecu's but they would have a lot less frustration for there customers.

This thread is all over the place. So what’s the suggested stand alone ecu? Everything listed has been bashed it seems. 😂.

Yep. You are right, they are not. However wtmtronics is. Their board is whats in the fishdog from speedyefi.

below are pics of front and back of the vb3 ua4c board that used to come in the fishdog. This is actually my spare. I also recently bought a 2nd board only to keep as a spare since I drag race the car and like to have spare parts if they are cheap enough. The board in the car now is the vc3 which is the newer version of the ua4c.

Forum likes Megasquirt because forum like all forums is closer to a cult than an unbiased information repository.

I have hands on experience with Hydra, various Megasquirts, and Haltech over the years.

I am currently in Haltech camp.

Megasquirt is the choice here because 15+ years ago, when everyone was a tightass/brokeboi, people were building MS units. So now there is a bigass repository of info for MS users. It is not the best hardware by a long shot, but because of the saturation, whatever problem you may have with an MS, someone has likely also had it and there is a documented solution somewhere. I also moved from an MS to a Haltech. The support is not there from within the forum to a large extent and you pay for the hardware. I am well over double what a new MSPNPro would have set me back.

In terms of Plug and Play, an MSPro would require less sorting than a Haltech. there are options ports and **** you can plug right into. This is because the developers are here on the board and worked on it with this platform in mind. Haltech did not do that, it is a standalone in the truest sense. When it comes to enxpansion and addons, there are more roll-your-own options whereas haltech is a bit more of a locked down environment. Android vs apple. So you can run say a Pi Dash with your MS, but you have stuff like an IC7 dash for the haltech at about 1200 USD.

A modern Link (not the old FM piece of ****) is a good choice but also the same drawbacks exist for support and the price is a bit more palatable.

End of the day it is a balancing act between hardware, price, support.

If i had unlimited monies and someone to help set it up, I'd give a motec a shot. But I don't, I made my choice and here we are.
