The thing design wise that kills the overall design is the big ass rear bumper and the indecisive lights. Also I didnt care for the tablet on the dash. It seems like a last minute decision. Do you think they might develop and app that integrates with the steering controls and speaker system into a tablet? That comes with additional features on the app like On star does with chevy(locking doors, remote start, etc) Shit that would be kind of cool but damn it looks ugly on the dash.

Interior is awesome. Exterior has a lot of good, some bad.
Overall, my favorite design other than the NA. Probably end up owning one (since I've had one of all the other generations), after I can drive it. If it has RX8 or better steering, AZ6 or better shifting, NB or better lightness feeling. Just worried it's too fast. Yes, too fast. The NA6 can be redlined everywhere. It's fun. The NC doesn't have as much of that, and putting what is likely the most powerful engine in a very light car might put it on the 'start to take care where you redline' scale. |

The "tablet on the dash" is currently available in at least one car in their lineup to the best of my knowledge. Or a 2015 model. The point is that this isn't new to the Miata, and you will be able to buy the Miata without it i'm 99% sure. |

I have a 250hp 215ftlb tq miata. Its still not fast enough.
I have a 240whp/220wtq miata. It's completely fucktarded to drive on the street. |
Personally power/weight wise, IMO it just needs to hang with the BRZ/FRS. That would be enough for me, as long as the chassis is good and there's room for aftermarket :).
That said, I'm pretty excited that this came out and NC's will drop in price. Might have to upgrade one of these days, as I actually like the look of a clean simple NC. |

Like.
Curious how it compares to the BRZ family: Power/weight Wheel base and track width CoG and other suspension geo. |

There really is no need for the "tablet" sticking out of the dash. It quite literally looks like it's a design mistake - as in "oops, forgot to include radio controls, might as well just glue them here"

It doesn't look fixed in any way... In fact, it looks like it may move down inside or even be removable. Or at least i hope. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...2535050d4cd96d I've always found these dash TV's to be pretty distracting at night. |
Now, I wouldn't really be a fan of the unnecessary complexity of a moving data panel...but if it slid out of sight into the dash, that would be pretty slick.

That's what it looks like to me - folds down and then retracts into the slot. Seems they would do that just to make it less of a "steal me" sign if for no other reason.
|
That's what the mazda3 dash looks like now as well
http://image.motortrend.com/f/wot/ma...erior-dash.jpg Also, it is optional on the 3. The base model has a smaller fixed display there. |
It's not a pretty choice, but apparently it works well on the Mazda3. Necessary evil, I guess. :/
|
Might have to do with the US mandating backup camera's in all cars in a few years.
|
Maybe the base model will have this
http://media.caranddriver.com/images...s-1280x782.jpg I could live with it |
Display is fixed, does not fold or stow away, according to an m.netter who sat in it.
|
That's not awkward looking at all.
