Where can you even buy a camera that shoots interlaced video anymore?

(I'm handwaving over the fact that most professional cameras support native 1080i capture for material intended for ATSC broadcast, as that's obviously not what was used above.)

The fender pull actually looks like a job well done. If it wasnt for the 4" drop and the 195s on 10" rims would be pretty decent.

That's not a fender pull, and it doesn't look good.

Origins of "Some people juggle geese"

The phrase "Some people juggle geese" comes from Joss Whedon's defunct sci-fi western TV show Firefly. The line is spoken by the character Wash in the episode called "Our Mrs. Reynolds."

The situation is as follows. Wash has remarked to his wife Zoe that people on other planets have strange customs: in one place he visited, the primary form of recreation was to juggle goslings (baby geese). Later in the episode, a woman steals a shuttle from the space ship he pilots. His wife asks him why the thief would steal the shuttle, rather than the whole ship. He says, "Maybe she likes shuttles." Since this is not much of an explanation, she gives him an exasperated look. Then he says, in his defense, "Some people juggle geese!"

I 'only' like the color + hardtop, I'd rock it.

Wow you just found that now? This guy lives 5 minutes from me. I'm pretty certain he's gonna use my NB as his NB Miata review. Stay tuned. He's on the west coast right now, actually Portland Oregon I think.

Yes, and I hadn't seen it posted here previously. Maybe I missed it somewhere in the 517 pages of content in this thread?

Well, ****.

I just got down from the roof of the building, ~40'th floor.

Here's what this view looked like two years ago, looking north-northwest:

Here's what it looked like at about noon today:

See any differences?

Any at all?

(Hint, the dark thing at the top of frame is a 13 Ghz antenna)

(Hint 2: the red arrow is pointing at the other 13 Ghz antenna. Or at least it would be if someone hadn't just constructed a building in front of it.)

This is going to be challenging. I just lost my backup transmitter, my only two ENG receive sites in New Jersey, and my primary satellite farm.

Nope. We knew about that building, we did a survey on it, and found it to be well outside of our STL path.

Nobody knew about the smaller building being constructed just to the east of it.

Except for the president of the company.

Who lives right next to it.

Who, when I was explaining to him that it was going to cost about $4,000 a month to lease new fiber to get around it, said "Oh, that's the new building they're putting up across the street from me."

And it's going to take several weeks to get it up and running.

I am so completely fucked right now that, quite literally, the only thing I can do is laugh about it.

On 9/11, we got taken off the air when a building fell down. Today, we got screwed by a building going up. This is the first time in my entire life I have experienced anything even remotely this absurd. I have no backup transmitter, I can't communicate with my helicopter, I've lost the only two ENG receivers I have in all of New Jersey, and my primary network satellite feed is down so I have no choice but to lock the local dish in place and tell the news department "Sorry, but we can't take any feeds from CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Al Jezeera, MSNBC, or anyone else for that matter until we get this sorted out."

Have I mentioned how much this sucks?

Bonus picture:

I came across this panel while climbing up to the roof today. That's 120v coming in on cloth-jacketed wire, running through exposed copper bus bars, going through thermal fuses, and then being carried on TELEPHONE WIRE to... wherever the hell it winds up at.

To be fair, the wiring up to the fuses themselves, while nearly a hundred years old, is ******* gorgeous. It's a work of dangerously obsolete art.

The wiring after the fuses? Not so much.

Union electricians...

To who?

There's no Federal Department Of Making Sure That The Construction Of Tall Buildings Doesn't Interfere With Television Signals.
