Here at WPIX, we have a dedicated freight elevator that goes from the news studio (on the 2nd floor) straight down to the outside of the building on 2nd Ave. We use this whenever we have guests / bands / performers / etc in the studio who need to bring gear with them. It'll hold a piano, a Harley, two bears, etc. (not all at the same time.)

To access this elevator, a key is required. Well, three keys. They hang from a peg on the back of the set, near the lighting director's chair:






It has an amusing name:

What's more impressive is the time gap (10:56 to 11:22) before the Porsche goes by him after his last lap, where he lifts and coasts to pit. He had opened and enormous lead.

 

Got me some big brakes, bro! Gonna do a trackday, bro!

 

 

Blue or Green?

im seeing a lot of 3D printed bullshit on this forum and I have a complaint:

I don't have a 3D printer and I ******* want one.

 

Find a spare $300 and buy a cheap china one, all it needs to do is work long enough to print fixit parts for itself. Mine's been pretty flawless though, I just printed belt tensioners and set screw adjustable height stops.

Here's my first project, hopefully be making a few dozen glue jigs like this.





These were test parts I didn't expect to work. Since I need so many sets, I printed at 200%/100mm/s and high layer heights to make 1 full set in under 4 hours. The machine rings like crazy around corners moving so fast, but it still works!

 

Not my picture, but I passed this on the side of the interstate this afternoon. I thought what it said on the side was perfect.
