Geo metro engine? Why not just run a motorcycle engine?

The new engine is still a 1L 3 cyl SOHC, but with a bespoke aluminum block and head, new crank, cam, pistons, rods, valvetrain, etc. You can still see some influence of the Metro in it, but it's clearly a new engine, built on new castings:

Wellllll....

Most motorcycle engines have a built-in transmission. That transmission lacks a reverse gear and is relatively fragile. It doesn't have much of a flywheel, and usually no damper. It's hard to bolt a motorcycle engine to an automobile-style transaxle. Motorcycle engines are tuned for extremely high-RPM operation and don't have much in the way of low-end torque. They also lack somewhat in the durability department, especially when asked to push a vehicle which weights 3-4x as much as a bike.

I still liked the Aptera better:

But it was over-engineered, over-priced, and failed to actually exist beyond the prototype stage.

Yup.

Sure as God hates ****, the main burner for the oven sits directly atop the tupperware-storage drawer, with nothing at all in between. And, thus, the flame is present any time the burner is lit, regardless of whether the dial is in the "BROIL" position or not.

What an annoying design.

Joeman. That's not a storage drawer, that's a broiler. Please don't store tupperwear in the broiler.

I agree with everything you said regarding motorcycle engines except durability.

High strung motorcycle engines are pretty reliable (if well cared for). I sold my R6 with 35k miles on it after 3 years, still didn't need a valve lash adjustment or showing low compression or anything.

And this was a bike that had it's 15k red line constantly abused on the street and track.

Transmissions are usually pretty strong. You got a wet clutch which wont burn, As far as the rear its also fine. You dont need a new transmission. You just gotta use a sprocket on the rear wheel just like the Trex.

When cooking dinner in a Manhattan-sized apartment, "doing the dishes" is not a discrete task performed long after the conclusion of the meal. It's a continuous process performed in real-time.

Used the broiler (intentionally) today to brown the **** out of some honey-and-cornmeal-glazed tofu, which then went into the rest of the stir-fry.

I really need to learn to make my own orange glaze, but even with the sauce coming out of a bottle, it was ******* delicious. (The fried rice was 100% from scratch.)

A substantial preponderance of the auto-buying public expect certain amenities, such as reverse gear and automatic shifting.

Couple this with the fact that, for what I expect are obvious reasons, modern production-grade trikes utilize FWD, this also fails to address the need for a differential.

I base this mostly on having observed posts on the forums for the Grinnall Scorpion (BMW Motorrad K-series), the Super 7 ('Busa), and similar vehicles over the past decade or so. Motorcycle engines apparently do not last 200,000 miles when tasked with pushing around 500+ kilos. That's acceptable for a kitcar, not so much a production car.

It makes them go all asplode.

Saw one of these cute little guys at the zoo recently. I wanted to take him home, but he would eat my children and other cats.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-footed_cat
The black-footed cat is one of the smallest wild cats in the world and the smallest wild cat in Africa. Adult resident males weigh on average 1.9 kg (4.2 lb) and a maximum of 2.45 kg (5.4 lb). Adult resident females weigh on average 1.3 kg (2.9 lb) and a maximum of 1.65 kg (3.6 lb).[3] Males reach a head-to-body length of 36.7 to 43.3 cm (14.4 to 17.0 in) with tails 16.4 to 19.8 cm (6.5 to 7.8 in) long. Females are smaller with a maximum head-to-body-length of 36.9 cm (14.5 in) and tails 12.6 to 17.0 cm (5.0 to 6.7 in) long.[4] The shoulder height is about 25 cm (9.8 in).[5]

Joe, PLEASE come make dinner for me next time you're in Pittsburgh. Enjoys engineering/car talk, cuddling, and eating from the same pizza place less than 4 nights a week.

Can host, or outcall. Need non-pizza food.

In this moment, I can feel the coarse texture of the bedsheets. The oppressive heat of winter. The aroma of rotting fish and diesel fuel. The bamboo furniture, and the cold grip of a pair of ancient binoculars. I can smell the bilge-water in the belowdecks of the vessel Gladys II where I labored, and taste the Orange Tang in the galley.

I WANT TO BE YOUNG AGAIN!

EDDIE, ARE YOU OK?

Thank you.

(I'm just now realizing that I had a seriously fucked up childhood.)

It's not that hard.

Seriously, I just made a decision to stop giving a **** and just throw **** at a pan until something worked.

(I am drunk as hell right now, I can barely stand up. This is unusual for me)

Sometimes it doesn't work.

(Starbuck is hearing "The Music." Boomer knows something is up. Tigh is in denial, seeing redemption at the bottom of a bottle. Anders is freaking out.)

And sometimes it does/

I think a good life goal would be learning how to do the smooth criminal dance from start to finish.
