If a couple want to wed in the church of fatter day saints, or the church of the poison mind, or the church of the almighty dollar, and want to enter into a marriage contract, then gov't should rightfully enforce that contract if one spouse decides later on to take the other one to court over said contract. Also, family law is there to protect the children in case of abuse etc. etc.

So outside of enforcement of contracts and children, the gov't should not treat singles and marrieds any differently; taxes or otherwise.

True, I agree with you to an extent. I don't think many people get married for a tax break. It sure as hell wouldn't be worth it. It is far cheaper to stay single, any man can tell you. Hell, I don't even know how it effected my taxes. My wife and I both started making more money when we got married, so we went up a tax bracket. I see how it could help, and if it actually does, then why not if it helps the country. Besides, overall, it makes most normal, non dirtbag human beings more responsible. It seems like dumping the lazy person support system we have would contribute far more to the economy... Or atleast drug test those recieving hand outs. Spending tax money on illegal drugs should be... uhhh.... illegal.

That works both ways.
9th ammendment:
"The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."
Enumeration: Enumerate vb 1 : to determine the number of : count 2 : list
Construed: 1. Interpret (a word or action) in a particular way.
Disparage: 1. Regard or represent as being of little worth.

With smaller words:
Determining the numer of constitutional rights shell not be interpreted in a way as to deny or belittle other rights helled by the people.

So, one can not attempt to keep the gays from getting hitched by saying it's unconstitutional, because that would deny and belittle the gays right to equal rights through marriage.
