shiner is not a bad beer to drink, hop slam is one of the best beers bells has put out if your into Ipas, if you happen to come across widmer brothers dark saison out there that's one I highly recommend last tkme I was there they at least had it in bottles

I'm not a saison fan...I agree with you about hopslam though.

I never had any schlafly products, but my brother says he picked up a variety pack of it, and that bar I linked in a previous post has like 4 or 5 different schlafly brews on tap.

There is a microbrew pub near me called "the bethlehem brew works" they have "Steelworkers Oatmeal Stout". That stuff is AMAZING and might be my #1.
I really need to add Southern Tier Mocha to that list.
Actually, I favor pretty much any Russian Imperial Stout, also chocolate or coffee stouts.

I'm at my brothers house about 15 minutes outside of St.Louis...he picked up a variety 12 pack of Schlafly. You guys are on crack if you think this is "good beer". In PA we have a variety case called "Dundee" and it reminds me of Schlafly because it's a cheap excuse for a good quality microbrew.
I mean, it's OK, but it's not something I'll brag about when I get home. There's a reason why they sell this stuff at Target in the cooler next to "Shock top" which is a budweiser product and is the absolute worst excuse for a micro brew ever to hit the market.

I wonder if you guys know about Chambly, in province of Quebec. I used to live there.
There's a beer pub there called ''bedondaine et bedon rond'' that has a collection of over 15000 unopened beers. It's impressive. The owner, Nicolas, brew over 15 differents beers during the year with around 10-15 seasonal brews that come and goes during the year. If you guys like baltic porters, les 3 mousquetaires brew a 2010 gold medalist in PQ called ''Porter Baltique'' is excellent.

Also the brewer ''Dieu du ciel'' is a 15 minute car drive in Montreal. They are renowned from the péché mortel (expresso imperial stout 9.5%, aphrodisiaque vanilla,cocoa stout and my favorite L'exquinoxe du printemps is a maple syrup scotch ale, dont think too sugary on that one, it is sublime.

I happen to own a couple to those beers perfectly aged in dark, cool environment. If you guys want to trade beer Quebec vs USA in well packaged boxes, im willing to trade the experience with open minded people that likes to suggest US brewed beers.

I'd like to try more of those imperial russian stouts, barley wines and other ''tough'' beer you guys brew.

I stand corrected...Peche Mortel, is most likely at the top of my stout list. I forgot about that, but I knew I was forgetting something important...that $hit is soo good. I was at a bar, and I was sketchy about buyin it cause it was like $9 a bottle...the bartender saw what my tastes were for the night, and he said "I'll tell you what, try it, and it you don't like it, I'll pay for it." Needless to say, I LOVED IT.

here, it sells for 2.99$ at the grocery store 12.99 for a sixxer. The flavor development in american brewed dark beers tends to become richer and diversified, the oak aged beers are among my favorites.

Tonight I drank a Left Hand Milk Stout. It was very smooth, similar to Youngs double chocolate stout, but better...
Then I drank a Six Row Vanilla Porter...AMAZING. It wasn't watery like most porters seem to be, yet it wasn't thick, and it had a strong vanilla extract flavor to it...I really enjoyed this brew.
Six Row is brewed in St. Louis, MO, which I really enjoy considering Schlafly is brewed in St. Louis and I think it's crap.
I also tried a Arcadia Loch Down scotch ale. This was a great ale, as I like the sweetness of a scotch ale.

Tonight, I drank a Rigor mortis from dieu du ciel. The malt has a good balance between acid and suggar for a dark beer. I also had an Eisbock from l'alchimiste from Joliette, PQ. On of the final preparation step of that beer is freezing it then removing a percentage of water in the beer from the icing process. It becomes thicker and richer from behing ''deluted'' from water. Heavy stuff aged a year...9.5%.
