I finally had a Souther Tier Creme Brulee for the first time. Holy Mother F'er. Yet another Souther Tier product that never let me down. I really enjoy Souther Tier Mocha, but this stuff just might beat it.

An adequate but unremarkable porter from St. Petersburg , Russia:

This was ok, but I'd rather be having what Joe was drinking.

Bud light platinum.

Because I like the taste of my own urine.

Tastes kinda like regular bud light, but you can taste more alcohol.

Honestly, the Baltika № 6 was nothing special. Sort of Guinness-like in mouthfeel and flavor.

I do rather like coffee-stouts and porters, however. I had a really good one from Kona a couple of years ago, and haven't been able to find it anywhere since:

Very rich and complex- quite malty, slightly sweet, and with a coffee note which was quite pronounced without being overpowering. There's nothing worse than subtlety in a strong beer.

Real Ale Brewery in Blanco, Texas makes a good Coffee Porter. We can find it locally on tap from time to time, and also in bottles at the grocery store. In fact I had a glass (or two) of it on tap last week. Tasty.

Texas has a bunch of really good beers that, unfortunately, are not as widely distributed as so much lesser quality swill. Real Ale's stuff is pretty much always excellent, same with St. Arnold (Houston) and Live Oak (Austin). I haven't seen any of those up here. Maybe I should start pestering Total Wine.

Pabst Blue Ribbon... boring beer of the day.

ZX-Tex 05-31-2012 06:56 PM

I thought I had posted this already but if so I cannot find it.

If you are EVER anywhere near Hood River in Oregon you MUST stop and have some beer at the Double Mountain Brewery.
http://doublemountainbrewery.com/

I was up there earlier this year on travel to Portland which is close by. I drove over to Hood River and visited this microbrewery. The two beers I had, Goliathon and Ferocious Five (both on tap) were outstanding. Excellent. They may have been the best microbrew beer I have ever tasted. Both are strong brews with a lot of complexity but they are very well balanced. Initial taste and after taste are both excellent. And, they sell growlers. I almost bought one and shipped it to myself. Maybe I should have. The beer was that good.

Don't bother with the more mainstream Full Sail which is right around the corner. I went there afterward and ordered a sampler tray. Some of the beer was OK but I should have just stayed at Double Mountain.

Right now I'm drinking a Victory Hop Devil, which I bought a case of last week. It's made in, I think Easton, PA. It's delicious, and about $32 a case. I'd compare it to Dogfish 60min, but with more spice to it.
The story for today goes like this...
Yesterday I bought Ministry "Greatest Hits" on cd.
Today I woke up at 5:40am and kissed my wife goodbye so she could go to work at the hospital. At 11:30am, I brought her lunch from Salad Works, and I bought an Italian Diablo sub from "Primo Hoagies" for me, and a Tuna Diablo for my wifes co-worker. After lunch with them, I decide to visit the "taproom on liberty" in Allentown, which is about 9 minutes from my wifes work. I drank a pint of Dogfish Head 90 minute. They had a bunch of other goodness on tap, but I was in the 90 minute mood. I drank that while I handpicked 2 6 packs of bottles...$13.99 a 6 pack. I ended up with this:

Attachment 45056
If you can't see the photos right, the first 6 pack is:
Ballast Point Big Eye IPA *
Flying Dog Wildeman Farmhouse IPA
Founder's Red's Rye P.A.
Founder's Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale
Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA*
Stone IPA*

The second 6 pack is:
Flying Dog Raging Bitch IPA*
Flying Dog Wildeman Farmhouse IPA
New Holland Mad Hatter IPA
Founder's Red's Rye P.A.
Founder's Dry Hopped Pale Ale
Southern Tier Phin and Matt's Extrordinary Ale

If it has an Asterisk (*) next to it, it means I've had it already. I picked the Sountern Tier lastly, cause I've never heard of it, and I have never been let down by any Southern Tier product. The New Holland Mad Hatter I am curious about, cause I haven't had a lot of New Holland Products...but they make Dragon's Milk, which is one of my favorite Stout's.

I also realized something else...I drove my car there, which has 162,000 and change on the odometer...and it was abused by me for almost 60,000 miles of that. It smokes when I leave every stop light, but I don't give a what, cause it still runs good and gets me around as fast as I want to hit the right pedal.
I had a moment of zen after that (1) 90 minute draft while I was driving my car. It may have had to do with this song:

which rolls right into this song:

Anyway...I was in the f'n zone.

Now I'm home uploading all this crap for your enjoyment.
What do you guys think about my beer selection/ mindframe?

Had some weizen from the tap at school. Don't remember the name, I currently lack the words to adequately describe it but it was delicious.
