Anyway, I picked up two bottles at TJ's a week ago. The first was Botswain's Chocolate Stout ($1.99), which I didn't get a picture of, but was quite yummy if you like that sort of thing. I rarely condone flavored beers, with the exception of coffee and chocolate stouts / porters.

Then I had this one, which was $2.99

Quite interesting. Very slightly hoppier than I was expecting, but it didn't overpower the rich, malty base. It had a sort of woody tone about it, which was surprising as there was no note about the beer having been cask-conditioned.

Here's my analysis of your picks:

Guinness: overrated so much it's now underrated. misunderstood to be a hard-to-drink beer. It's actually a very LIGHT bodied beer (dont confuse color with body) and very easy drinkin'. store in your basement, not the fridge--or at least leave them out 20 minutes before you drink.

Fat tire: pretty much a quintessential micro brew amber. little hops, little bit malty. try not to drink all 6 in one sitting. oh and don't serve it too cold. I would say fridge cold poured into a room temp glass will be good and warm up to the right temp as you drink it.

guinness lager: who knows? there are other more interesting black lagers out there.
