COmbination of the two? Don't want to get buried in debt, but don't want to lose all your liquidity in case something pops up as well. You'll have 6 months after she is done before paying them back, so that could give you a change to rebuild what you pull out of savings, if only a bit.

Starting pay as a nurse in most locations is pretty decent though so even if you have to break your nest egg you will be replenishing it pretty quick if you can keep from spending the new income stream for awhile.

If you ever drive that will be a LONG trip so I imagine you will be flying. What are the nearest Southwest Airlines airports? Portland and Omaha? If so, looks like each visit will run you $250-$400 in airfare alone. As a guy who has been in a long distance relationship for a year, facetime or skype video is your friend. My girlfriend and I are trying to spend a long weekend together every other month or a full week (Saturday to the Sunday of the following week) if we go more than three months apart. It's worth it in the end! Good luck!

I think thats the plan. Her grandparents are quite wealthy, but i'm not sure how much they will be willing to help, they are dealing with a shitshow of a grandson/great grand son. And that consumes all of their time/money.

Ideally I will keep most of my current savings, and spend a lot of my future income on it, and then pad that with loans. Its less than $40k for a full bachelors degree, which isn't a horrible deal.

That is the hope. I'm not great at saving money (i blow it all on cars) but she is amazing. saves a ton even on her current EMT salary (shitty). Starting pay here is around $60k, which combined with my salary as a software engineer will go a long way.

Frontier has $79 flights to colorado. So its less than $200 round trip. Gas in her jeep might cost more.

Than I have to assume she is at one of the schools in the West/SW part of the state? I didn't realize there was anything out there!

Looks like the closest one is still a 6 hour rountrip to Denver International.

Yeah 6 hours is about right. We went and visited in late september. Rented a brand new VW passat. Was awesome.

There is a super cheap bus from the airport to the town she will be in. I think it should work out ok. I have a decent amount of vacation time, and can work remotely easily.

I have to wear earplugs in the miata, the tire noise from other vehicles on the freeway is overwhelming. If the cancellation on these is pretty good they might do the trick.

Ah hell I'm just going to try them
Ok i tried the headphones out (hbs 800). My exhaust is fairly loud at the moment (wastegate open) and the headphones block out nearly all of it. You can still hear it with the music on but overall its pretty quiet. The bad part is that i hear the wind hit the headphones and that you can hear pretty loud. Not enough to where you wont hear the music but loud enough. I went up to 45 mph.

I just hope that my apartment (three blocks from Wrigley) is spared in the inevitable rioting.

I imagine people peacefully leaving the stadium and you throwing a steel chair out your window into the crowd.

How many opportunities does one get in life to burn a couch or flip a car?

Yep, I went back and fixed it. Just super annoying having things work half the time, then not others, without any rhyme or reason.

Depends where you live, it could be weekly routine.

I'm an audiophile too, the type of guy that spent a 1000$ on a set of Audeze back in 2010..
Over it now. But try the VE monk that is on AliExpress.. It's only 8$ and the quality of these will shock you.

Here's an example to give you guys an idea about car prices in Turkey:

Sample car has a 2 liter engine...

Price as imported: 56000 TL ($17,984.62)

Special Consumption Tax 81200 TL ($26,061.76)

VAT 10080 TL ($3,235.25)

VAT on Special Consumption Tax 14616 TL ($4,691.11)

Price of car before dealer markup 161896 TL ($51,961.76)

Oh, minimum wage? about $400/month, take home.
Average income? under $1000, take home.

I fail at math. The roads are jam packed with CARS!

The government charges you tax on a tax? I don't believe I've ever seen that one before.
