of course not. i just did whatever the manual said...like ran it without an input for like 48 hours or something, with all the color settings on max.
I learned above break in type DVDs too late. I also hear the newer ones are much better about it. but still i worry when the majority of my TV programming is still in 4:3 format.
I'll probably go LED LCD or something next go around.

My 58" Sammy plasma had been great. No burn in or anything and all I did was plug it in and go.

Put the breaking slides on a USB flash drive and set the TV to slideshow when you're not using it for the first 100 hours of operation. I left mine running overnight too. I told my family it was a new kind of mood light. An expensive mood light.
Local dimming led LCD is ftw, unless you play games on it.

I dont play games. I really do love the plasma though. Even my wife, if we go to friends houses will comment on how shitty LCDs look in comparison. I'll just make sure to get a screen with a good refresh rate and I'll be okay with it. I dunno I might go plasma again, they seem to be cheaper.
I did run a program for about 48 hours on my set after the fact to try to lessen the burn in to no avail. It was just a screen that looked like b/w noise it it was acutally color noise to work out the colors...dunno if it would help if we tried to run it longer.
no worries, I'm leaving the TV in my house when we sell it. I'm too lazy to take it back down to bother. especially when units are so cheap lately.

I can't decide if this is awesome or terrible, but it's definitely something:
