fuuuuuuuck... I just saw my credit score.. 550 0________________0

And I've been generally good on all my ****. I might have passed the 30% point on my credit card quite often. But I swear I took care of most of my delinquencies like a year ago. what the ****.

I need a goddamn financial aid/planner credit repairman or whatever the ****.
I study the ***** off of this ****, but I need ******* help.

If anyone of you do this for a living, and want my business hit me up.

For many many years it never occurred to me to even consider carrying a balance on a credit card. I didn't think people did that. I never really knew why you even consider APR when choosing a card. The only time I ever carried a balance was back in 2003 when I had a zero percent for 2 years card, I put my Ducati on that one and left it there until I sold it.

Now mortgage APR and refinancing & PMI...that **** sucks. I need to become more smarter regarding monies.

My parents got me a CC when I was like 15 and taught me the ways. I thought this was something all white people did.

I got my first at 18 so I could buy **** at school without carrying around money. I closed it out along with a bunch of cards I never used, kept one Discover and one Visa (for those places that don't take discover). Did that right before buying our house, figured that would be smart. But according to my credit report during the mortgage process, that's a bad thing??? Especially closing out the card that I had since 18. Whatever.

I actually didn't have a bank/checking account until the middle of college sometime. I'd cash my paychecks at the bank on the check & pay credit card with money orders from the student center. haha.

House is paid off, no car payments, no loans. I have a HELOC that I keep open for house repairs/upgrades, and it has 0 balance. I get half a dozen CC offers a week at least. No idea what my credit score is, but I bet if I wanted to finance a $50k car they'd do it without batting an eye.

Yeah, you usually want to keep your oldest line of credit as long as possible. I've had my CC with Wells Fargo for 3 years now.. I want out. Doubt my credit score can tank much lower honestly (the minimum is 300, but you'd literally need to do some of the dumbest **** to get below 500).

Still... I nerd advers

Yeah, screw that. So much easy credit out there that there is absolutely no reason to pay for it. I can't believe American Express hasn't gone out of business yet.

It is best to have several credit cards, never carry a balance (pay them all off every month), and to pull one of your credit reports every so often (free) and clear up anything negative that shows up. Simply paying off an old delinquency is not the same as asking the lender to remove it from the reporting agency's files. Often times they will do it if you ask (especially as a condition of you sending them your final payment).

So, turns out my dog isn't a very good mouser nor is he very bright. I already caught the mouse about 5 minutes ago and he's still stalking out a corner the mouse was once in.

The more credit you have available to you that you don't use, the better. It is a ratio. And always pay on time. If you are going to be a day or two late, call them immediately and get them to put a note to that effect on your account so they don't bug out.

If you were late on a payment or two last year but caught everything up, sometimes if you ask the bank will remove it if you have been good since then.

Ive had one cc in my name since 2006. $700 credit line on it. I think I need to get that increased to get a better ratio. Never been late, never carried a balance.

I tried checking my credit score but it didnt seem to work. The report itself was populated, but the section that shouldve shown the score was blank. What site do you guys use to check your scores?

There's 3 different agencies and your score will be slightly different at each. You can usually generate a composite score that averages the 3 together.

The dumb thing is that if your credit score is checked more than once a year (I think) it's flagged for "excessive requests" or something like that. Mine was flagged when I was refinancing -- we had already requested one report, then there was a delay so the lender requested a new report.
