Today, he asked me the difference between a waste-gate, and a blow-off valve.

I would encourage him. Tell him do it, spend 5k for someone to build the motor for him, another 7-8k for a turbo setup and then him to end up blowing it up assuming he tunes it. If he builds it cool if he doesnt then its just another reason to be happy when u see it fail.

So last night I had my first house guest since my ex left.

She brought bags of groceries, cooked food, played the guitar and sang for me AND totally took good care of my needs.

God I needed that!! lol

I like it when my mom cooks too.

So I have decided to make my own custom coilover sleeves.

Aluminum or steel?

Single lower perch with a locking bolt aka GC, or two perches locking on each other?

triple88a 09-21-2013 04:13 PM

Depends how often u lower and raise ur car. If not many times i'd go with a single with a lock nut. On the other hand if you lower it and raise it every month or few times a month i'd go with a double.

If anyone here knows a thing or two about art collecting and selling, send me a PM. Pretty please.

Just out of curiosity...why the need to make your own sleeves if you don't know what you want?

"variations on a theme"

"more than one way to skin a cat"

"evaluating methodology in the course of attaining a predetermined objective"

I do know what I want.
And, while I was debating on what material to use, I just wanted to toss the question out there in the ramble on thread, for some casual input.

The long winded question could have been something to the tune of:

I know manufacturers use anodizing and surface hardening for aluminum. While it affords machining ease, aluminum is a cause for concern for me because I might wipe the threads clean on the sleeve body, since I do not possess the facilities or the know how to properly anodize and surface harden it, and that might bite me in the ass in the most inopportune moment when I hit the wrong bump, on a mountain road, in the middle of the night, during a severe thunderstorm, right in the middle of some zombie infested part of the world.

As for steel, it is cool and all, and I do know I can circumvent the weight issue by using much thinner walls - because steel - but I have to deal with pesky issues such as rust. Zinc, copper or chrome plating would take care of corrosion, and the cost effective, readily available steel stock kinda makes me feel like ditching the aluminum for steel.

What to you think guys?

Do I sound like what I want now?

Hakan, check out Alodine chromium conversion process for aluminium.

Guys what do u use for injector grease? Any kind of grease or do i need a specific injector grease?

y8s 09-22-2013 09:28 AM

I bet you can find a shop to anodize in some random color for $75 for your whole set of parts.

That said, you can probably find ebay coilover sleeves in whatever configuration you want for about that price.

Silicone spray is what i've used in the past.

But recently, i put them in dry, no leaks...
