MTnet Builds Flying Machines: Failure Accomplished
Slightly annoyed, can't get 2.3 on my MultiWii Pro. With 2.1 and 2.2 I was able to get it in and setup, but 2.3 just won't connect to my computer for tweaking.
I really really really need outside time to adjust this thing, i keep fearing for my body when I'm hovering it around the basement a couple feet away

I havent done GPS with my ArduFlyer, but Tw34k did it with his MultiWii and it worked beautifully with no hassel. You should have seen us when he first hit return to home and his tricopter snapped 180 and zipped back towards us and popped into a hover. It was so tidy, even with a bit of wind.
I need to go ahead and get a GPS and a 433MHz TX/RX for my 9X so I can start playing with FPV without losing my ****. I recently got a 1.2GHz 100mW video RX/TX which is proving to be quite awesome. I rigged it up and tested it a bit and foudn that I could go ~500 feet even with it going through houses and trees. Line of sight I dont doubt this thing could go miles.

The only downside for me is that I haven't been able to get 2.3 working on it, and that or 2.4 is going to have the gps coordinate/path components.
With the MPNG on there, I get the ability to do waypoints and all that fun right now... well.. once its warm out.
Jealous of the FPV setup, I can't wait to get to that point.
Next up for me also is to mod my 9XR and get the telemetry output into the onboard screen/alarms. Get an onboard cell checking sensor setup, so i can send that to my TX to monitor. Now if only i could figure out an easy fix to get the Yaw to return to 0 everytime (sticks a little bit when softly returning to center from the right.... damn you China).

How about the 808 with a lens exstension cable and gut down to just the board. Unless you have better uses elsewhere that dedicating it to this doesn't make sense.
I picked up some guys package of 2 of them and extra lenses/cases/cables/batteries just to use for that mixed purposing.

Yeah, 1500mW allegedly. I have no idea if that is real numbers or not, haha. Could be 1500 chinaWatts.
I kinda dont want to strip my 808 because I end up sticking it on all sorts of other ****.
The company I work for sells CCTV equipment so getting a board camera is not a problem. I think I may be able to find one with a good wide lens (maybe like 2.8mm?) that would work well.
If anybody is interested we may be able to do a group buy.

I might be. I'm a total newb to FPV stuff, but I want to rig something up to take to rocket launches to be able to tell where my damn rockets end up. I can build the hardware for a 2 axis gimbal, Gopro mount, video out hack for a Hero 3, etc, but I don't know anything about the gyro controls/ goggles/ transmission etc.

Its analog, so the resolution is never going to be that great. There are a lot of the chinese cameras are claiming 700 TVL and such, which according to Joe Perez its a laughable exaggeration.
Im just planning on using a little LCD screen. Those goggles are too much for being low reslution and small FOV, especially with 1080p occulus rift hotness around the corner.

So the Arducopter software has a FollowMe function.
Bit of awesome in the manual...
"The APM:Copter should follow you!
If you have set the altitude to 5 feet it might be a good idea to see if you can out run it."

Got it into the air outside, didn't crash... success!
Now to dig into gps functions, loiter/guide/waypoints of course after tuning the PID stuff.
Forgot I had one setting to Loiter (with no adjustments) and flicked to it... hexa shot up like a rocket

Working to pickup a cheap gimbal, then control board that will chat with the MultiWii setup as I'd really like to use Loiter/GPS mode and remotely pan the camera.
edit: pulled off youtube stabilization, it did wacky things to video. Also sad that quality even at 1080p on Youtube is visably below the raw footage.
