Irrelevant:
A couple of weeks ago, we had some guys bring three quadcopters into the studio and fly them around for some fluff segment on the 5pm news.
As soon as they switched on the transmitters, all of our wireless microphones, IFBs and intercoms went nuts.
Lack of frequency coordination FTL.

I'm going to take a stab and say 90% of the hobbyist RC world is on 2.4ghz for control. Did you get a peek at their transmitters? The "Spektrum" brand is notorious for doing what you described due to the crazy channel/modulation hopping routine it goes through.

Our digital intercom system is spread-spectrum at 1.88 - 1.93Ghz, and our microphone and IFB systems are all single-frequency operating in the UHF band, sprinkled all over the place from the upper 500Mhz to the mid 600Mhz range. So whatever those guys were radiating, it was all over the place.
Haven't been on in a while, but I figured id show what I got myself into.
My mini quad with tmotors and KK2.1
It didnt like it, but I could pick up my I phone 5

And then my beast.
TBS Disco Pro sut up for long range/flight time.
15" props
Pixhawk
EzOSD
EzUHF
2.4 lawmate tuned video trans
TBS ground station
dual 4000mah batteries for 45min flight time
I have a stash of pics, but cant find them yet.
here is what I could find.

I wasn't physically in the studio at the time.

I'm sure it was a riot.
Did they discover this while live on air, because that would be amazing.
How are you guys matching props and motors? Is there a knowledge resource for this stuff other than the product feedback pages on HK's website (dubiouly useful), forum trawling (the RC forums I've piddled on seem like an impenetrable trainwreck), or endless eCalc iterations?
I haven't flown it at all... likely not until spring here.
FPV rig Foxtech RC832 unit with a quantum diy single screenfpv rig, 500mw unit. Also unused except for about 5 ft range test

But I think you meant to quote someone else
The new Hex has Turnigy 690v pancakes, 12" CF with unknown pitch (have 13x6.5 CFs also, and some plastic options) and unweighed. Came with a 5s 5000mah cel, which looks to be more battery than the motors are rated for... i do have 4s 4000mah on hand though as alternate.

I have only flown mine once, and only for a brief time.
The original owner put the basic frame together, and soldered the ESC, but never flew it.
Little did i know, he did not solder it correctly (poor connection), and it crashed.
Only fell 5' into grass.
Since then I have completely rebuilt it, not trusting anything he has done.
Team BlackSheep Online Store - ENDURANCE TBS DISCOVERY PRO LONG RANGE SET (2G4 VIDEO, EZUHF RC)
This is essentially what i have.
Im running a Pixhawk instead of the Naza
Damn yellow Zippy flight packs are killing me. Every one of my 3S packs has once cell that discharges at about 2x the rate of its neighbors. I've got maybe 15 cycles on the things and I've been very diligent about not discharging them past the "safe zone" for a lipo. Very annoyed. Much frustration.
