Been seeing these things pop up everywhere! I've only been dealing with fixed wings so far, but I'll be building a quad soon.

So, I made some long wooden arms for my shitcopter, and now it has even worse jello.

Round 3

The yellow zip-ties dont last to long if you keep ******* up.

But this time, everything is clean, and it flys pretty good.
The yaw is a little twitchy, but ill work that out over time.

****

Just tried doing a flip. (Because i'm an idiot)

And forgot Auto-level was still on. (Because i'm an idiot)

Landed right on a motor, and broke the G10 board that comes with the flitetest kit.

Well, that sucks...

I ordered a few parts this week. How about some of those buddy codes to ease the pain?

I'm working on posting some codes, its a bit of a challenge from the tablet

Edit: ungh, looks like I have to type out all the descriptions, bear with me... I'll continue to add codes to this as I can. Just make sure you are logged in to your HK account t when you use them.

Edit edit: cut n paste ftw! Keep refreshing, I'll keep adding codes

Don't sweat it on teh tablet. I won't need them for real until Friday, probably. I'll post a projected parts list tonight if I can, though.

Well, that's it for me. Looks like buddy codes are only good for 14 days after payment is received and the bulk of mine are expired. Most of that stuff is for my indoor micro quad and tri builds so may not be that useful for you guys building full size.

Broz, don't be afraid to post up your own codes, we all win in the end. I'd rather you guys get credits than random dudes on RCGroups or the HobbyKing forums.

Yellow: Wow, you broke the G10 RCExplorer tricopter center frame??

The motor mount made by Flitetest is made from G10.
You can see how the motor sticks off the wood, that's the G10 material.

Mounted them strait to the booms, and went flying again.

I got it about 200'-300' up with my GoPro.

Now if only I could figure out how to upload the video.

This escalated WAY quickly.... I may have to dial this back some...

I have the hookup on A123 LiFe calls, and I may build my own battery packs to save money there. I might also go with Hobbyking NTM 2830S-800 motors.

Any other suggestions or observations?

There are a few places to cut money from that list.

KK2.0 is worth every penny for a beginner.
The 4005 motors are overkill

Is that 30 bucks per motor? or 30 bucks for all the motors?

They are nice, but defiantly too nice for a fist motor.

The turnover rate for this hobby is high. there is no reason to go all out on your first build.

Yeah you can get a damn good motor for 15 bucks, and plenty of decent ones for 10 bucks or less.
Those CF2822s I was using were about $8 each and make 800g of thrust.

They must have restocked KK2s yesterday, because they were still backordered the last time I checked. Either way I'm planning on some Arduino trickery, so the MultiWii has to stay.

I am planning on going with NTM 2830S-800s and prop adapters, which saves me ~60. I also swapped props to something more appropriate for the NTMs, which saved me a few dollars. If I can build my own batteries, there's another ~$35.

Here's the current build list for Stupid Quad Thing v0.2:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_4R...it?usp=sharing

ecalc says this will do ~9mins mixed flight with a 4s2p built from those A123 cells. Does that sound right?

Also, the v-tail quad that Flite Test built in this video looks cooler than winters after global warming.
