Sensitive throttle pedal in non sporty cars? Blame the average driver

Captain obvious says: most oem "t00ns" are retarded despite the cars being equipped with a very capable and sweet ecu and suporting electronics.
This is why these cars gain such healthy chunks of power and torque with tuning.
Not to mention gobs of improvement in smoothness, response, and efficiency, as Scott is discovering after I told him the same 3 billion times.
I'm gonna wanna try those throttle improvement settings you're raving about Scott.
I wanna feel the magic

That's an interesting question.
Apart from manually comparing every single table in ones' tune again a known-OEM set (presupposing that one even has access to a known-OEM set), is there some flag somewhere in the system, a sort of digital hymen if you will, that indicates whether or not some previous owner has already stuck their dick in the mashed potatoes?

the older ecu's had a "reflash counter" if its over a ton you know the car has been passed around more than Scotts cute butt....Newer ones just tell you how long ago it was last reset or flashed. Not much else.

my car was modified before i bought i know that. like i said it came with an aftermarket boost solenoid on it, and I can tell it had an cone filter and FMIC on it at one point.
but the open source tuning softwares have this great feature: file > compare tune

I had previously read the first couple of posts in this thread and decided there was nothing interesting here.
Then I saw it pop up in the active threads list and thought, "How could that thread have gotten to 3 pages (120+ posts)?" Then I saw it was mostly about Braineack trying to tune his drive-by-wire settings in his Subaru.
Fortunately, the following posts made it worthwhile to skim the thread.

You make me want to change my CL/OL delay from zero to something in between zero and whatever the factory had it at for my year car, just to see if I get some MPG improvements. I do not recollect any loss when I made it zero but I wasn't looking at MPG at the time.

don't forget he tweakserzed the heck out of a bunch of other tables in his quest for ninja turtles throttle response so his cl/ol isn't affected the same way yours is.
typically mileage doesn't drop down that drastically when the other parameters aren't tweaked too much. his was going nuts at cruise cause his throttle is way more sharp now.

My theory on why the Subaru OEM tunes suck so bad is this:
Subaru was tuning for emissions first, gas mileage second, 91 octance Cali **** gas third, driveability fourth, everything else doesn't matter.
The abnormalities you see in the OEM maps are most likely for emissions, they do weird stuff to try to get the cats to light off ASAP.
Just my guess

I'm absolutely certain emissions was #1, 2, and 3.
I'm still optimistic I can get a best of all worlds tune...I realize all the increase in low-end power is detrimental, but so long as I can keep stoich in cruise, maybe retard the intake cam a bit to reduce overlap, and increasing timing should be able to reduce fuel overall.
I just need to actually spend time on it, log, and find out all the cause and effects. I mean this thing has cruise and non-cruise maps specifically to achieve this, so I don't see why I can't make it happen. and I'm not running **** 91 octane.
