TTD/PTD dicussion

Pretty much what Sav and Efini said. A lot of the points that are bumping you into D aren't doing anything for your laptimes. The times you're comparing yourself to are cars that were built specifically to the TT rulebook. I ran 185/13s and stock sways on my cars for points reasons. Was it as fun to drive as 205/15s with sways? Nope. Fast at Mid-O? Yep.
Looks like Jason and Bryan are doing some work on the old E record, though. I'd love to see Jason run a 39 this weekend. Gonna have to get my **** together before my next trip to Mid-O!

I guess i should have prefaced my previous posts with: This weekend(today and tomorrow) is my first event in NASA TT. I've been doing DE4 and timed open lapping stuff for 3-4 years now. This D crap this weekend is irrelevant. My goal is to be competitive(podium) in E within 2 seasons. I just wanted to get a baseline for winter improvements aiming for next season. I knew i would be significantly offpace(E pace) regardless of what class the car fits in by points. Looks like I might podium in D on accident. All of D are slower than Jason's new record anyways haha.
I am more than aware of my current prep level, opposing prep level, current abilities, opposing abilities. I am slow now. My "radical" street car looks pedestrian next to jason, adam, yours jeff, brians purpose built TT cars. I feel like a freshman all over again. . overconfident and totally unprepared.
I guess I read too much into the talk on here about 2300lbs, 130whp, 225s on 9s, airdam and beating Spec records in street cars. I wish that were as easy as it sounds. I'm finding out firsthand how tall that task is.
I did get to follow Jason for 2 sessions today. He ran that 1.41.108 within the view of my windshield the entire time, but I am running 5 seconds of that. I suppose my sense of time/speed/gap is totally off base.
I have a PR of 46.1 to beat tomorrow. I'm taking 35 points on bald, 2011, 205 r6 takeoffs. cant fit the fresh(er) 225 nt01s into D. My car is totally riced out. Small improvements. We all start somewhere, now I really know where I stand. .

My guess is even in your current setup you aren't getting the max out of it.
I can't say much because I have more track experience on 2 wheels than 4, but my dad and instructors were happy with my car and times, but I know there was more in its previous setup.
I say my dad because he used to race and win regional championships, but Miatas are easy to learn, tough to really drive fast.

I am new here SO I figured I would post pictures of my PTD car. I have only done a few events with it so far, so it is still under development but is getting pretty close to being a contender. I was planning on going to nationals this year but as of a couple weeks ago I had to withdraw for some unforseen circumstances.
For the time being, since there arent really any other PTD cars in my region, I am focusing on TT and going for track records. first few shakedown events have been on clapped out continentals but from here on out the a6;s are going on.
Car is classed at 141whp 2105#

We're taking three NB's to nationals in two weeks.
E
William NB
Andrew NA
D
Sonny NB
C or maybe B
Emilio NB
The 86 is the unknown, being very favorably classed in D for the time being. They're just as fast, or faster than an S2000 with the same mods. Right now though, there are only a small handful of driver/tuners that have figured them out. If any show up at Miller in D or C prepped and driven well, we're gonna have a tough time keeping up with them. If none of us have issues, we'll each have a good shot based on recent testing and shakedowns.

I would class TTD over TTE** and make the points work. The car will be faster as a TTD base class.

There are a few other things at play that might make a TTE** base class make more sense. The tracks I drive are VIR and CMP which are both fairly fast courses.
1. First and foremost I'm slow, it'll be a while before I win by anything other than 'default' so at this point it's more 'building the car I want' than building the optimal TTD car.
2. I'd like to keep the car SCCA SSM legal as well since it also performs autocross duty. SSM is pretty soft here so I'm not hugely pressed about not having a massive wing and 300whp and all the other weight reduction to get down to 1,900lbs since I'm not very willing to drive more than 2 hours to get to an AX anyway and have 0 national/pro intentions. My car in ~80% CSP trim usually takes SSM as well as CSP to give you an idea.
3. Eventually I want to turbo this thing. Likely a 2554r or similar setup,
restricted for TTC(?) for NASA and limited by rods/transmission everywhere else.
4. I want to play with aero.
What it would look like in the immediate term. Way under-prepped but it is what is on the car at this exact moment.
TTE** base class +14
Hankook C71s +10
225 -1
shocks/spring/sways +7
OEM LSD +3
-----------------------------
33 pts TTD/CSP
After I start driving the car like a man
TTE** base class +14
Hankook C71 +10
205 -7
OEM LSD +3
shocks/springs/sways +7
EP air dam +3
splitter +3
wing +4
Some engine work to ride that 150whp limit via de-tuning
-----------------------------
37 pts TTD/SSM
Likely late 2015
TTC base class +0 (most likely, might move this around depending on what class participation looks like)
Hankook C71 +10
205 -13 (Is this going to be horrible with ~180whp?)
OEM LSD +3
shocks/springs/sways +7
EP air dam +3
splitter +3
wing +4
-----------------------------
17 pts TTC/SSM
