Default Assemblig shocks

I'm putting the NB shocks and NB tophats on my NA.

How do you compress the two bushings to get the tophat on the shock? The thread isn't long enough. Compressing the springs doesn't help. Some on Miatanet have suggested trimming the upper rubber bushing in half to shorten it, but I'd rather not do that.

If I do trim the upper rubber bushing in half, does the cut side go down?

Thanks for helping a coilover newbie.

Default I'm calling this the LarryB Method for Assembling NB Tophats

I finally got the nut on the top of the shocks by using two wood clamps to compress the assembly. I hope it helps someone else.

Thanks for all your help.

so its 2012, and racelands are now $360, and it looks like they copied the VMAXX design with dual springs. I'm currently shopping for my first NA miata, and thinking of getting racelands, because i'll be on a super tight budget.
whats the deal with these?

They're just fine for a daily driver under 120whp or stance kids over on clubroadster. Not really worth it otherwise.

I would not say that they are not worth it. They're a bit rough but handle well at more than just 120whp for the cost.

My next setup was used NB bilsteins (~$200 if i recall correctly) with $40 ebay coilover sleeves and inexpensive circle track springs ($120ish). Way better setup than the racelands.

My experience with them is they are incredibly smooth, but handle like crap.

That's mad funny cause you do know all coilover bounce and technically ride "poorly" coilovers are meant for track use where roads are near perfect and smooth. Also i drive a miata slammed on racelands, it bounced just as bad as Tein SS on an evo that I just drove a couple days ago

Poor James. He had no idea that he had just pissed on the shine at Mecca.

Oh hey, this thread is 3 years old so I'm going to reply to one of the first comments of a thread--with 20 pages worth of discussion--with some stupid drivel because I haven't a ******* clue in the world.

I've slacked with quality control on this site, and James didn't make the cut. Sorry, admin has no friends.

I like how he compared two slammed cars on bumpstops. Of course they handled the same: Shitty.
