would 245/40 even be worth fitting to 8.25s? I have 225's that I am going to fit but am now reconsidering.

That's tight. |

If anybody is running 245s with 10s on the NB, make sure to bend the front bumper tabs.
If you dont bend them, they eat through side of the tires on the hard turn. It was fine on street but during autox, they do rub on the bumper tabs. No more rubs after I bent the bumper tabs. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1460984530 I LOVE these tires, they are super easy to predict. |
^ Thank you for that, how's your tire-to-sway bar clearance? I got a used set of Rivals that had notching from contact under hard cornering.
|
If you complain about your 245/40s hitting your swaybar at full lock, you are a terrible person

I don't have power steering so I rarely ever turn the wheel that much to begin with. Haha |
Oh you guys :o. I make a lot of U-Turns and the tight turning radius makes it a one turn affair. I'll watch for rubbing and followup.
|
I'll be trying to make these work with drift knuckles 🤔

Yeah not to bad though, I trial fit the wheel without tire, I think the 10mm ones I have will do fine.

My 245 (Hohos) on 10" 6ULs rubbed the Xida springs, so I put on the only spacer I had - a 10mm. Then they rubbed on the outer shoulder BADLY, so I grabbed 3mm and 5mm spacers. The 5s still rubbed a lot; the 3s seem to be the sweet spot (but still rub a touch on the outer shoulder). 245 Hohos are a touch bigger than the VR1s, so you may not have this problem. The 245 RC1s fit a lot more easily than 245 Hohos.

So far on 15x9's I have no rubbing with rolling (I think I pulled a tiny amount while rolling the front fenders from inconsequential pressure), tabs are up against the inside of the fenders. The front bumper/fender/support rod tab was bent up and over the nut somewhat. I'll put some spirit into my turning after the parking lots clear around here. So far loving them! This is all on Advanti Storm S1s which are +35 offset.

You're giving me hope, what's your ride height?

If the car has shocks that work, and you will drive it hard enough to use full travel, it does not matter what the ride height is when it is (hard) parked. You will eventually bottom it out and whatever is going to rub, will rub. |
