no sweat man WOT tunning might be of help on the fittings maybe you can swing some spare fittings on a partial kit cheap through him. I like this guy more every post. He's got some interesting ideas and it seems hes got the courage and free time to see if they work.

i'd have to disagree. First a sportbike is designed to go well past 150mph smoothly. Sportbikes have sick brakes that will stop in about half the distance of a miata. Also balance is not a factor here, the faster you go on a bike the more stable it becomes from gyroscopic forces. There's also a good chance you'll be wearing leathers and a helmet, if something did happen hopfully you'd be able to scrub off enough speed to survive, in a miata, no hardtop, shorts and t-shirt i don't think that would go too well.

I don't really care which one is more stable (My Miata feels decently stable at an indicated 130); I'd rather be in a car, vs. perched on top of an engine strapped to two wheels and a set of handlebars.

lol a crumple zone at 150mph, that crumple zone includes your body cavity. my point is either way you hit something at 150 you're fucked, at 150 the bike will have a better chance for accident avoidance.

According to motorcycle consumer news, the shortest 60-0 distance for a current bike is 104.8' for a Triumph Speed Triple, I wouldn't say that's half the distance a Miata would take. The limiting factor is the tiny contact patch that motorcycle tires have not to mention high center of gravity.
With that said, I love the Brembos on my Duc, and I have crashed a motorcycle at 70mph with no injuries other than road rash due to an ill-fitting jacket. Last edited by SamS; 03-05-2008 at 08:36 PM. |

Hmmm... who knows. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they aren't in a real world driving situation and because they use slicks. The only fear is that rear wheel slipping from under you because of gravel and even then, they are turning so hard that they're maybe a foot or two from the ground... not to mention that they also know how to slide and land on the asphalt. Moto GP riders are trained for this type of stuff and they know the risks they are putting themselves under. I think it may be time for some more videos:

(Notice their leathers, especially the back portion, this helps so that there heads don't bend too far back. And look at how quickly they slow down when they slide into the grass and gravel and pads on the walls, their sport was made to keep them safe in case anything went wrong. The only thing they can't help is when the bike starts sliding into them.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTXiMtch9nQ&NR=1 I swear to god, gravel and dirt slows you down so much... I recall the pits at Airborne school and how on the "lateral drift apparatus" when you fall into gravel at a given speed, you slow down fast and it really feels soft. But dirt! We all know how soft dirt usually is... it's a no brainer. My point being, you can't compare Moto GP to two stock vehicles and how they react in the real world under real circumstances. Motorcycles are not the best choice at high speeds on public roads. |

60-0 has nothing to so with 150-0, the reason a bike's 60-0 isn't all that much better if at all than a car is because you're limit braking to keep the back end on the ground, not much of an issue at 150
also don't take the "half the distance too literally" |
