Aidan's loose oily bunghole actually runs a track lap
I didn't take pictures of my exhaust shielding because it is cobbled together and isn't pretty. Suffice it to say it keeps a lot of heat out of the transmission because it is functional.

Contrary to all the ridiculousness that goes on in my thread, my car is actually quite sensible, and in my opinion, relatively well built.

Or a $700 transmission
Thats more expensive than the track day.

I like the idea of the exhaust wrap posted in the heat shield thread, but don't think it will show up in time.

What about just some of the sticky back heat shielding stuck to the transmission? I do have quite a bit of that laying around. That would at least do something.

Well, that could work. I was imagining getting a 6 or 8" wide strip and coiling it around the exhaust, once i figured out how to make some standoffs to strap to the exhaust with hose clamps.

If I can figure out heat shielding I have a bunch of scrap sheet metal at work, and a sheet metal roller. I could roll a ~3.5 diameter tube and mount it. I just don't see time for that between now and MRLS. Packing, work, prepping my car, finishing Ed's car.

I dunno. I ran my car last year with no ill effects. maybe just heat shield the transmission? Let's play with it on our cars on Sunday after tooning.

I looked closer at that. And the stand-offs would be ridiculously easy to make.
Bit of C-channel, cut some slits, and slide the clamp through. Drill a hold and stick a bolt through.
I'm going to get some hose clamps at vatozone today and see what I can wrangle up. It would be easy to just roll some sheet metal and bolt it on that way. If I have clearance.
