Well it finally happened. I've talked to a couple people about thermal expansion at this joint, and it probably needs a gusset.

Oh well, I don't run much boost on the track anyways.

I in that campground for exactly 30mins last year. I had just set up my tent and a friend from Mazda came by and said "I've got an extra room at the Hotel"

Is it still drivable? I've been lucky so far and haven't had anything crack yet.

I love this car. And this track.

Trans still isn't happy after a while. Its like hard to get in gear, but doesn't grind.

Who wants to give me a 6 speed?

I may try and rebuild it this winter.

So I did a 10 min qual session and that heat shield was smoking so much I thought it caught on fire lol... hopefully it's just the first time it gets good and hot... about to find out.

You must have a bad trans. I have a 3 inch downpipe with 240wtq through my 6spd and no issues even on 30 minute sessions. Try Dumondtech gear oil next time it'll fix it if it's truly the fluid, or else your trans is toast

Leaning towards this. Its not the end of the world at all. Just an annoyance.

Here is @EO2K's heat shield.

And here is why my tires are square

That's @turbofan I'm dive bombing into the corkscrew.

That heat shield should have an air gap, and the brake parts need more protection than that. He's playing with fire going on the track like that.

I would never use one of those that close to the turbo, and yes, air gap.
