Yep, I pushed it all the way in, and then marked it with a sharpie.

Movement is about an 1/8thish of an inch.

 

Spent some time working on my oil cooler mounting today. When I tried to lay it behind the radiator it turns out that I didn't have room between the radiator and RB sway bar. Maybe my radiator is different or something.

So I modified the radiator brackets to move it farther forward at the bottom and allow room to fit the oil cooler.

A bit of angle aluminum and one side was done.

Hmmmm . . . . Wonder if it would have cleared if mounted a bit higher. Looks like it could have moved up a couple of inches before conflicting with the top hose.

 

I tried a bunch of different options. But I'm pretty sure it would have run into it either way. This way gives me clearance, and seems to work well. Maybe I'll check again tonight.

 

If it works, it works. I thought you're solution was slick. Just wondering I guess.

 

Also after spending some time on MSExtra I found that changing the Boost Solenoid freq. to 19.5Hz made a world of difference in tuneability.

Today I found out that my wastegate bracket had broken where I welded it to the compressor housing........

So I JB welded it.

Any bets on how long before that breaks?

I'm not worried for now. If it breaks all it will do is make less boost.

 

I just hope mine doesnt break as well. I didn't think there was that much load on it.

I did. I didn't want to be negative so I never harassed you about it. I wanted to.

With the **** spool gun I used, mine arnt much better.

New wastegate bracket haha, its long and twisty, but it works. Also oil cooler brackets are almost done. This thing is hard as **** to fit behind the radiator. Its a tight squeeze.

 

Oil cooler mounting done! Still need to debur bracket and then powder coat it. But it will be installed next oil change. I also need to make up a sheet metal piece to go in front of it to block it on cold days/non-track days to help with warmup.

 

Why not just run a thermostat?

 

I am, but I've read there are still issues even with a thermostat. The thermostat doesn't fully block oil through the cooler, it just opens and closes a bypass through the sandwich plate. This gets daily driven so something to block airflow might help in the winter.
