You'll still over cook them on a spirited drive, but yeah, that's what I'd do. Cobalts on the track, Autozone pads on the street.

I'd also do this with 1.8 brakes if I were you though.

 

On the same rotors?

I don't know how the Cobalts work, but I know my Carbotechs require their own transfer layer so for me that wouldn't work.

 

<p>Unless a set of 1.8 brakes pops up for super cheap I'm going to hold out. I think I'll end up with a BBK this winter. And for now I think I can make it work. Unless <span>@turbofan still has the 10AE brakes. I really just need the brackets and rotors. Might pull them from a friends car.</span></p>

 

<p></p><p>Cobalts require no bed in or anything. Just hit the brakes hard and it supposedly is good to go. I think in the video you see any bit of whatever was left on the rotor (and some of the rotor) turning into sparks.</p>

My 10ae brakes are gone. In fact I really don't have much more stuff to sell. Internal debate rages about whether to keep my FFD wheels or not.

I will need to re-do my ducting. My zip-ties and corrugated plastic from home depot didn't hold up so well during our flight... Or rather, during our somewhat bumpy landing.

Calipers with brackets are pretty cheap at napa. It's actually easier to find them with brackets than without around here.
