I certainly would run the same combo in any other motor I am building for boost on pump gas

I recall emilio saying something to that effect in another thread though. Not sure. Don't want to find out the hard way either.

I've read that from several sources as well.

ST would be hands down the better option if not for the interference bit, plus I really like the idea of being able to remove oil squirters with the FM pistons.

Long time no update!

TSE shortblock is ordered, VVT head + FM happy meal is waiting to go on. Rollbar and FM butterfly are going on. Deatchwerks pump is waiting to go in.

Next thread target update: Early march, when the shortblock is supposed to be delivered.

I am really interested in seeing what the ceiling is on this turbo on the BP. Btw, I did a pull today at about 9.6-10psi and got 199lb/ft of torque at 4100rpm. I can't wait to get it completely tuned and up the boost to abouts where you are at.

I'm pretty confident this turbo will hit at least 350whp at this point with a log mani, .64 turbine, and generally not optimized for max power stuff. If I switched to a ramhorn, threw on a flat top, etc. I'm pretty confident 400whp wouldn't be a pipe dream.

Which, considering you can get 2560 spool characteristics out of it....

If trackspeed is going with a tubular "log" with their EFR kit then I am ok with keeping a log as part of my plan. I'd be thrilled with 350 on 93. I wonder if we can get more out of it on e85...

BTW - I know that I am simplifying in calling either the BEGI, FM, or upcoming trackspeed manifold a "log" but for the packaging purposes that is what I am calling it.

A teaser to my current build. Every single re-used item with threads is being chased in the build.

Every single re-used item.

A teaser to my current build. Every single re-used item with threads is being chased in the build twice - once coming off, once going back on.

Every single re-used item.

This video should also illustrate why I need to move over to inconel hardware.

That's off of 5k pure street miles.

(Bad) pictures of the latest installs. Boss Frog Clearview Maxx, Boss Frog doorbars, and FM butterfly brace.

VVT head tapped for a coolant sensor and a coolant feed for the turbo.

What heat barrier is that? How happy are you with it?

FAtmat Rattletrap.

Extremely unhappy. Go with another brand. If I could magically get all that crap out of the car (I tried and failed), I'd apply Second Skin's line of products.

It's crappy compared to equivalent products.

And in your shoes, I'd go with Spectrum - Damplifier Pro - Heat Wave Pro fwiw

So, big news.

Thanks to Curly, I finally got back to back dyno results.

tl;dr, gutted manifolds SUCK.

I'll let Curly talk for the results, and the dyno for the back to back test...

The manifold test was very interesting. We did all the initial tuning on the gutted manifold, including keeping torque down, tuning EBC, fuel, spark, etc. That netted us 316hp and 272ft/lbs. Swapped on the stock upper half and without touching the tune got the 345 and 280. Actually I think it was 290, but we turned the boost down to stay under 280ft/lbs as you asked. So yeah, more hp and same torque at 2 less psi.

But after 5600rpm (and I have the graphs to show you, and Aaron can send the actual dynojet files), the ungutted mani starts to climb while the gutted one starts to level off, for a peak difference of 30hp, and 25ft/lbs. Seen here:

Through the magic of being a mod, I've edited your post to have a slightly less bent picture of the dyno print out.

Shop has sketchy wifi and I forgot to bring a USB key, hence the pictures of graphs.

So yeah, basically this was a back to back test. The tuner left for a potty break, and I swapped manifold tops. This was the 2nd or 3rd run after we were up and running again, cause I didn't want the cooler temps of the very first run to compare against the hotter runs of the gutted manifold.

The small torque gains seen with the gutted manifold from 4200-5500rpm is explained by a small drop in boost.

Otherwise it's as he quoted in my PM, about a 30hp/25ftlb difference between the two, from 5500 and up.

I think we ran into conflicting edits then, Curly.

Gonna need some time to soak up the rest of the info and for final results, so that post'll be incoming, but I'm seriously impressed.

Oh, well here's a slightly better pic of the same graph, insert in your original post if you'd like:

Requesting a chance in thread title to '350rwhp club' due to final results then, Curly, or whatever else strikes your fancy.

I think I have only one thing from BEGi on my car at this point anyways.
