Wow Haines Manual FTMFF

I worked all day on your manifold yesterday but I keep forgetting to bring my camera to the shop.
|
I've never had to remove the sway bar.

who unbolts a ball-joint to remove a shock? I would have taken my lunch and gotten the fronts done ;) I've done it before.

i never removed any long bolts - there was another write-up on here, or on m.net. ball joints were cake!
|
Ok, so the sway bar is off, the upper 21mm bolt is off, and that motherfucker wont come off is too fucking long :vash:
What now?? |
I'm assuming you did what Brain told you to do with stepping on the rotor? That is how I had to do mine, I think I had a pry bar in there somewhere too. 2 people makes it easier.
|
I also said to compress the shock shorter....
when you start to get the mount out, wedge it up into the body/frame and let it compress, then when you push down on the suspension again it's shorter and the mount will clear the frame and just hang out in the fender. then you can lift the bottom out and profit. the first time I ever did my oem suspension I didn't unbolt the sway or upper control arm....just the lower shock bolt and top mounts. Just had a fatty stand on the control arms. |

Yes I compressed the assembly while is still mounted and not even like it would fucking clear. Im doing it alone thoug. I need a buddy
|
just gotta show it who's boss. you have the lower shock mount bolt out right? that helps the bottom drop a little and more angle to rotate.

This is what I used. A long metal pole in the lower arm to act as a lever, push down with your foot while you remove the shock with your arms. Did my first suspension swap alone in just a few hours 2000 miles from home with 3 sockets, 3 wrenches, a pair of jack stands, and the stock scissor jack using that guide. --> FCM on all 4 corners |
I've been taking pics of your manifold today and yesterday. Will post up some pics this evening when i'm done working for the day.
Just thought i'd tease you with something to be excited about. |
6 Attachment(s)
Ok, pics as promised. I'm done for the day as I cant take huffing anymore burning metal.
Attachment 198686 Attachment 198687 Attachment 198688 Attachment 198689 Attachment 198690 Attachment 198691 This manifold design is awesome because everything will be going great (or you think it is) then Bam out of nowhere the port spacing is all fucked up. You fix it (or think you fixed it) and bam, its fucked up the other way. Anyway, tomorrow I get to break the tacks and find out why 1, 2 and 3 line up fine and 4 is all fucked up now :( |
