Just the welding. Its all tacked together in place, just needs a couple hours worth of welding and it'll be done. End is definitely in site! Sorry I didn't finish it today :(

^^^Yay!!!!!

Ok, stupid question time. Today I failed at installing the sandwich plate and the oil pressure sensor. First, no matter how tight I wrenched the sensor the fucking will leak. Second, I could not get the gauge to work-wiring wise. I followed the instructions, ground, 12V source, to and from sensor, as matter of fact I used the same 12v and ground that I use for my WB, and it did not work. Comments?? Suggestion??

dgmorr 04-10-2010 11:49 PM

Did you use any thread sealant on the sensor that goes into the sandwich plate? (put it on the plugs for the extra holes too)

buffon01 04-10-2010 11:59 PM

No. Will get some.

Edit: Teflon tape???

What??

Your manifold killed my vice! It was on its way out anyway, had to go use my friend's vice to finish smooshing the runners into the oval shape.

Been welding all morning, just got back from lunch and going to continue at it! Pictures tonight!

K, pics.

Pretty much all welded up except the turbo flange which is the easiest part to weld.

My buddy showed up and started talking shit about my welds so I told him to stfu and show me what he could do. I thought i'd call his bluff but omg, these are amazing. Never seen someone make a mig weld look like a tig weld.

I didn't get your manifold finished today :(

+1, you need to either raise the car or trim that bump stop.

Im surprised you have nothing to say about my sexy manifold :naughty:

What settings did he change on the welder to get it to look like that, lower the wire speed then the rest was all technique?

He turned up the wire a bit but its all in his Torch control. I finished up the manifold today by welding on the turbo flange and practiced some of the stuff he taught me. It came out OK but not as pretty as his welds. He did teach me how to tie my beads in together better. Its all about heating up the wire in front of the end of your last bead, then moving back over it to tie it in before continuing the new bead. Hard to explain, easier to see done. His tie-ins are almost perfect.

This way he doesn't have to worry about that coil bind that's about to be going on.
