I didn't do the work- Sean Mr 2JZMX5 reamed that out. The lower intake mani is being gutted too.
Hmm I would like to do a back to back but I would have to take off the lower IM since its gonna be gutted too.
I have never taken off the lower IM while the engine is still on the car though. How long does it take to pull and reinstall?
It does not take that long to get the mani off and back on and I didn't do the top adam did. lol I will see if I can get the other half done this week. You could deff swap the mani out in an afternoon.

Hmm can it be done while my car is sitting on the dyno? York owes me a dyno pull for frrreee.
That is a separate Intake. I have two and the stock one is on the car. Stock EXCEPT the lower intake mani is port mtached to the head. I think that is porobably worth 5hpish which means diddly in the scheme of things.

Faeflora you need to get one of these and have it welded on. It comes with the adapter plate you could have welded to the mani so all you would need is a little piece of straight pipe and any good fab shop should have that. This would make all the difference in the world on that mani and get rid of the pinch down point just after the throttle body, and it is only $100 shipped. Hells yea!!

Thats is no big deal my on my honda i took it out the only thing I have to do is keep it idling for the first 30 sec. then its good to go have not had one problem with it yet. Slow_Sc3's SC300 is the same way. Or like Braineack says remote mount it.
Not sure if anyone can help here but how far down do you think I should gut the center dividers on the runners. Remember that this car has meth and the jets are plumed into the upper manifold one over each runner. Also I plan to smooth the transition between the two when I get it gutted.

Got me coils and hydra pins today. yarrr

GM Part number 12558693. I could mount up this whole huge factory bracket to the valve cover but I think I will homedepot up a bracket to smoosh them all together. One thing to note. They are BIG.
Here's a pic of the heat sink that comes out of the coil. It wraps around. I think that in the factory application, the heatsink might dissipate some heat into the mounting bracket. I seriously doubt there is anything like dielectric grease between the two though so I don't think "sinking" to free air will cause problems.

Here's a pic of the connector. I'm hoping I can order the GM female connector to plug right into this. With the factory harness, the grounds and power are already bussed from each coil into a shared pin. It would make wiring much easier.

backside

Got Some plug wires too for $15

Also got a turbo blankie and some downpipe wrap. As you can see, I'm moving away from the black pit of blackness and will try to add some contrast to the engine bay. Blanket is some ebay special hand sewn by some expert Beijing laborer, knitted from the bleached hairs of mexican slave chldren's ponchos. Wrap is DEI for $12 from Amazon.

Who wants to buy my BEGI heatshield?

Sweet here are some updated pics of the mani after the major parts of it were removed. I have passed it onto Slow_Sc3 to finish it up with a die grinder should be plenty of room when its done. I will have to weigh it against a stock mani to see how much material I really took out.lol

im surprised you didnt cut out more on the top side of the last picture... the away-from-engine side.
With all of this work invested you would be better off just to make a custom Intake manifold.
With that mill you could easily make a flange, weld some runners onto it and build a nice plenum.
(This is what I am doing, should be pretty trick.)
