I was trying to wait until Kris sent me the old dyno files, so we could compare the stock DP elbow/ebay dp/stock exhaust with muffler cut off vs. Laz's new 3" setup. I'm going back there Sunday to dyno Aiden's car, then we'll have a decent comparison. For now, here's what I have:
Run 19 was closed wastegate by accident, made 251 ft/lbs by 3850rpm. At 19psi.
Run 21 was just wastegate, no EBC. Didn't need much tuning in terms of fuel, so we did a few more to richen it up a bit, but the 228hp and 219ft/lbs max didn't change much.
Run 41 was the best EBC run, although we lost RPM pick up for a second. I definitely want to try upping the boost a little and setting the 100% cell of EBC just a touch later, it looked great in run 19 until we hit over boost. But also way too much boost for the little ihi.

Ok here is the comparison to the old exhaust.
We found an extra 10ft/lbs from 2400 to 3600rpm, with a max difference of around 22ft/lbs at 3200rpm. There's a gain in HP as well, but only just over 4hp at 2400-3600, with a max of 15 at 3200rpm. The two graphs are nearly identical peaks and 5250 cross overs, with the 3" starting to show it's gains again above that, with about 10 extra ft/lbs and hp above 6200rpm.
It was a lot of money and time for the gains, however as Martin and Kris at KO have said, this is the first step before upgrading the turbo size, to really find the limits of a CSTG built engine. Coming soon.

Afternoon session in Laz at the ridge, only time the gopro actually recorded anything. There was a 1:54.2 in the second AM session before the turbo started to give up the ghost and the ambient temp started to creep up. Did a 1:56 dead at the end of this one on Hankook RS3s with a turbocharger that met a wonderfully smokey demise the next time I took it out. You can see in the spool and how the car revs that it just wasn't making the power it should, excited to head back with a new turbo and Hoosiers and shoot for a sub 1:50! Need to find a better angle to mount it too. Watch in HD!

Will post photo of turbo carnage once it's apart

^hey now, it's been getting better, the little IHI was on its way out last season when we took it off and saw the bent compressor fins, it was a really a matter of time, the rest of the package has really been quite reliable and the stuff that broke along the way was expected.
THe 5spd dying was realistically going to happen
The ebay radiator sucking at life, also realistically going to happen.
The brake carnage that happened, well I was foolish to think I could make 1.6 hardware last for more than 1 full track day at a time.
The fuel pump being bad out of the box from Walbro, not something I could have predicted.
The rods bending, again, not unexpected at the torque level I was at and how I push the car.
This for sure has been a learning process for me, but I think now with the semi built motor, a low mileage turbocharger, and a drivetrain that can handle the abuse I throw at it I think the car will be good to go for a while. Laz has seen a lot of sessions this year already and I hope that he will continue to improve as the season goes on.

A few updates, went to the Ridge Motorsport Park for an FFD/TSS track day. Set my best time to date of 1:50.2, so close to that elusive sub 1:50. Here's a nice little clip of Austin chasing me in Laz,
Shortly thereafter I delaminated a tire and it lost air, which in turn gave me a huge flat spot when braking from 130+ at the end of the main straight at the ridge. Car was ok but I was done for the day after that pucker moment.
whole group of us came up from Oregon
Got some new spherical bearing tophats for the MCS, I have a few extra sets if anyone is interested, they fit any shock with a 12mm shock shaft.
A shot from an earlier PIR day where I duked it out with John Mann's 300+whp beast
and a shot of the new daily with what I have in mind for it quite soon. 2011 335i 6mt sport package, her name is Elsa

Watching you and mann go at it was pretty awesome. Seems like you might have even been a bit quicker.

Also, epic daily. Any plans? I've heard all you need is a tune to get some pretty big numbers.

A few more updates. Lazarus ate another turbo, I think the combination of shaft speed at the boost I'm running and how hard I drive the car is more than the standard MSM ihi turbo can handle.
Great shot from the FFD/TSS track day at the Ridge Motorsport Park
Next track day this happened.... again... fortunately this time the housings are ok and the turbo will be upgraded with a billet compressor wheel and other goodies
We also did some work on Greta, our endurance race car
Added a 4.3 Torsen with Garagestar Diff Bushings, AMR Engineering Coilovers, 205/50/15 Yoko AD08s, ISC offset bushings, and 1.8 brakes all around with Cobalt Friction XR3/XR5 pads. I took it out this past Thursday and ran a 1:30.6 at PIR, which is faster than typical SM pole time by a second. Curious to throw some hoosiers on her at some point and see what she will do.
curly doing curly things
My mom came out to visit me at the track
Last but not least put my old SE37Ks on my daily, just needs a mild drop and I'll be content
