Pass a line around instead off through the firewall and see if the readings change? That will at least diagnose the problem.
My mechanical boost gauge passes the signal through the firewall but it uses hard plastic line, not rubber. Maybe substitute hard line (you can order it from autometer for cheap) for the bit that goes through the firewall?
I must have ADHD, while I'm thinking through my sensor issue I decided to change the radiator out. I wanted to hold off on ducting because I wanted to see if there was any notable cooling deference between the FM and Megan radiators. According to my logs the car ran about 97c with the megan with the outside temps in the 80s. I've got it installed I just need to pull some logs to see if temps are down any. Once that experiment is done I will do the ducting.

I tried using them for my own car but my intercooler setup was not forgiving. I couldn't get it to work. These where built for NB. Some parts where trimmed to try to accomodate the oil cooler lines but you can use them as an initial template if you have a bending brake, or just close up the holes with some thin gauge sheet metal.
So I've been really busy the past few weeks. I've made some progress since I last reported.
#1 I played with the boost reading issue and ran a new line, then dialed it back up. Everything seems to be back to normal
#2 I installed the FM radiator. Just from looking at my logs, it dropped the peak temp by 3 degrees C. Also it took longer to hit the peak. So even without ducting the FM out preformed the Megan.
I've currently got the car up for sale. This year has been pretty hard on me. I just built a house, having another baby, etc. I'm sick of living pay check to pay check. If I sell my car I can make a difference in that area. Even if it only helps a year that will be enough time to get things together. I really don't want to sell the cat, it is a paint job away from being everything I've ever wanted. But depending on how it all works out I may have another build in the works. It just won't be at this level. One helping factor is other than the GAP all my friends drive slightly modified miatas so the car is grossly overkill 90% of the time. It is fun to surprise local muscle cars but during most of my drives I'm in 5th gear putting around while my buddies are banging gears to maintain speed. If I were around more die hards I would enjoy this car more. As I've gotten older I've found fewer people who are drama free and into cars which sucks.

Whelp folks, this car has been fun. I've landed in a pickle and needed to sell it to pay of some bills. I really hate to part with the car but it needed to be done. I slightly parted the car out so expect another build to start soon. It just won't be at the level this one was.
One of my mates finally finished his build but was in a little bit of debt finishing it off. Only about $4,000USD but he is only 20 and about to move out of home. He parted the whole thing out, took 6 months to straighten everything in his personal life out then started a new build debt free. It's going to be better than ever and he and his girl are happy in a really nice townhouse together.
Honestly if it's the right choice for you don't apologise to anyone, not even yourself.
It's a sweet build but you'll get better results for less dollars next time, now you have plenty of experience.

Pretty much this. Is it me or were more cool people into cars when I was younger? Or is that just nostalgia goggles and I was just as retarded as today's kids?
Also, I can relate to the expensiveness of having kids, especially newborns. And to how kids in general compete really well against this hobby.

You don't. You should regard any money you spend on parts for your car as being gone. IMHO, If you can't afford to do that, don't buy the parts in the first place.

I built this car back in the day for reasons that escape me at the moment, but even after I went completely broke in 2009/2010, it never occurred to me to part it out or sell it.

Because parting out a car will always yield more $$$$ than trying to sell the car whole. Folks buying miata parts are generally stingy and unwilling to pay for things or just tend to lowball the **** out of ish. Atleast that's what I've seen on forums and facebook. Parting things out makes it more likely that you're going to find a buyer that was thinking about buying something or doing something (i.e. building a motor) and is going to be more willing to bite because it's significantly cheaper than doing things all over again.

I'll speak for myself here, for me its a 3rd car and an easy asset to liquidate. Some of the fun will be starting over.

I'm in similar straights. I needed a small amount of money, credit cards only bring more trouble for me since I lack self control so it was best for me do this.
Here are some goofy pics of me re configuring the car for the buyer. I sold the car "a la cart" so some parts came off the car for my next build. Back to stock seats, stock brakes and stock wheels. GUYS 24psi on those tires made the car a death trap, even with the large turbo. I turned it down to 18psi and was still not able to really get on it.
