I finally got home last night and I'm sitting here trying to catch up with my own build thread when suddenly...

"305/296 15psi, conservative 91craptane tune"

And now you guys understand why I tapped 18psi to tune the damn thing. I know my limits and I know that I could have never got these kinds of results on my own. I know I said it before but I'm going to say it again, I cannot thank him enough for working with me on this project.

I am truly not worthy.

Oh man, this is going to be nuts. If all goes according to plan (and I have no reason to believe it won't) then I'll be picking up the car tomorrow.

+300hp is a hoot for sure! Any thoughts on adding methanol injection because 91 octane?

G just picked up the car.
the test drive was........hilarious
half throttle in 2nd, wheel spin, sideways, let off, hysterical giggling

then freeway onramp, 5th gear, eyes widen in shock, "WHOAH"

Glad you like it sir, hope you enjoy it.

yeah, no ****. You were not kidding, first and second will spin at will, its insane. Its like the engine refuses to acknowledge that there is 17.6" of rubber under the back of the car. These are not the newest RS3s but its not like they've been frozen and abused.

The response is like, right there when you are looking for it. The turbo makes all the regular whooshing and hissing noises one would expect while in cruise and low tps, but you give it a little more throttle and things get eerily quiet like the turbo is saying "orly?" A liiiittle more throttle and the turbo is like "oh **** yueah, that's my jam!" and the needle on the tach starts to move around the dial very quickly

But its not a hammer, its perfectly linear and predictable provided you don't stab at the throttle like a moron. But as some of you know I am a moron who excels at moron things. I took a spin around one of my favorite sets of on ramps and twisty things tonight once I got home and decided to do said things. Needless to say, the car goes in circles really well I am really going to have to bring my A game to get used to driving this car again. Driving the car N/A I've taught myself a lot of bad habits that are not going to translate well with the turbo.

This **** is nuts, and I lourves it.

Sounds exactly like my car, the turbine noises it makes in vac constantly remind me there's a jet engine under the hood.

Car is NEVER done

Needs:

Thermal shielding (and lots of it)
Gauges that work
Some sort of air box for the filter (the jet engine thing gets tiring)
Most likely put power steering back in the car
Harness bar
Harness(s)
Something other than a foamectomy seat

I have metric buttload of stuff I need to get done before this weekend. Obviously not all of that stuff is going to happen before the weekend, but select items need to get done.

This is showing up today:
Amazon.com: Thermo-Tec 11620 2' X 6" Pipe Shield: Automotive Amazon.com: Thermo-Tec 11620 2' X 6" Pipe Shield: Automotive
Hopefully this is the easy button to prevent my master cylinder from going Chernobyl on me.

If not, then its hacksaw and rivet time while I try to fabricate a shield. This will end poorly I assure you.

Got any spare license plates?

Also I got some of the sticky back heat shielding which I used to wrap the master cylinder.

I think a heat shield is in order even if you do the thermal blanket.
just my .02

Ohh man, and I have a bunch of license plates laying around too, totally forgot.

IIRC the stiff BPV spring they sells gets rid of the jet engine noises. And since its a balanced BPV design the spring doesnt really effect its actual job.

Stock spring bpv only leaks at part throttle or if you have a dick load of pressure drop in your IC piping.

Awesome, thanks.

Are you going to be the guinea pig and try it?

As a test I guess either of us could try driving around a bit with the vac line disconnected from the BPV and see if that cures the noise?
