I have a radium catch can, overpriced but awesome quality everywhere. One of my friends has several more of their products and loves 'em.

I'd have no problem running the factory NB fittings at 43.5+25=68.5psi. I'm more worried about 60+25=85psi. that freaks me out just a little bit. I'M NOT SAYING I'M GOING TO RUN 25~30, this was just a number I pulled out of my ***. Though the turbo is probably capable of doing it
...

Absolutely true. But we've already seen lots of guys hit 350+ on the stock lines so I'm going to try not to worry about it right now. When E85 happens I'll re-kajigger it all with -6 from the tank to the fuel line. Pinky swears.
70-ish psi on the NB factory parts seems like it should be fine, it's only slightly above the maximum factory spec. And yeah, the higher the base pressure the harder it will be to get it to idle right, so there's no reason to turn it up unless you're running out of injector. You're running ID1000s, right? IME, they'll do 350-ish at the wheels at 50-60% DC at 43psi base pressure (for gasoline), so you should be fine.

And yeah, 350 on gasoline should work fine through -5, it just seems to me that it's silly to put in a flex fuel sensor on a fuel system that's questionable for flow on E85.

Supposedly they spray better at 70+ improving efficiency, but I haven't really seen the difference firstand so I dunno.

Agreed. The sensor would probably get installed just to get me familiar with its function until we actually get some local E85 out this way. I've got A LOT of time before E85 gets here and when it does I'd like to have things well sorted. The sensor won't go on right now because its low priority. Kinda like my traction control madness. One step at a time.

Yup, everything I read keeps saying that the IDs really like the higher differential pressures. I believe they have vids on the youtubes showing the difference? I swear I've seen Andrew post comments about this as well and I tend to take his word for this kind of stuff.

But yeah, you guys are absolutely right, I should have plenty of injector at 3 bar base to get the job done on gasoline. My DC estimate numbers fall in line pretty much exactly with the ones Ian posted. Should be fun on a bun.

Oh yeah, forgot to update about the engine. Well, she's still making metal:

But I guess that's to be expected?

To recap:
  • Initial fill with Amsoil SAE30 Break In & M1-110 filter
  • Changed @ 50mi w/Amsoil SAE30 Break In & M1-110 filter
  • Changed @ 250mi w/Rotella T 15w-40 & WIX 51356XP filter

I'm at 265~ish right now and I'm cautiously optimistic. I replaced the VEI oil temp sender when I did the oil change and oil temps are now a more sane 200°F in highway cruise. That Rotella T is THICK. I'm definitely letting it get some heat in it before I put any significant load on the motor. Good thing I have an extended neighborhood cruise before I get onto the open road in the AM.

Break-in oils are meant to "make metal." You're doing fine. You're definitely still breaking-in at ~250 miles.

Thanks Hornet

Also speaking of oil and paranoia, my stupid VEI oil pressure gauge is starting to get to me. Cold idle it pegs at 70 and does not change until the indicated oil temp is at least 100°F. Its supposed to be a 100psi sender so that's telling me something isn't quite right.

Hot idle (OT 180°F+) it bounces from 5psi (!!!) to like 20psi seemingly at random. I moved the sender from the samich adapter to the port in the block and its still showing the same behavior. I hooked up my meter and get no sillyness with regards to resistance and continuity over the harness no matter how I pull or flex it and the connectors. I can shake it like a dingo with a newborn and the continuity never drops. The switch point for the stock dummy OPG in the NB is supposed to "anything less than 8psi" (IIRC) so at this point, the VEI might as well be a dummy gauge as well.

I'm getting tired of these mother effing gauges in my mother effing car.

So I did what I felt any reasonable, level headed person would do in my situation:

OPG will be installed in a vent like, immediately. The others will follow soon enough.

</p><p>Not that it matters now, have you seen the Marshall SCX lineup?&nbsp; And 2-1/6&quot; means they'll fit the typical Miata gauge panel.</p><p>SCX Full Sweep Electric Oil Pressure Gauge, Stepper Motor, 0-100 PSI</p><p>No personal experience with them, but I'm thinking about buying them.</p>

I had not seen the Marshall SCX, no.

Those have EXACTLY the features I want, including the output for auxiliary indicator The pressure and temp senders for the SCX series appear to be 2 wire senders, so no ground offset fuckery! Yay!

TBH had you said something sooner I probably would have bought them.

No kidding, I did a search for other stepper motor gauges about a week ago and found some random stuff but not the Marshall. I guess my google foo is weak.

I'm fairly tempted to return the AccuTechs simply because the Marshalls solve my mounting issue, and I can set the warning lights to blast me in the face with super obnoxious LEDs or something. Le sigh.

Emailed TDR, I have questions.

I'll have to cough up an additional $60 to buy the Marshalls over what I paid for the AccuTechs, and that's about what I paid for my fancy gauge panel that's in the car now. Decisions, decisions...

700 posts worth of feedback about the Marshall gauges over on one of the Mini forums: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ry-gauges.html

Installed 1.4.0, got eleventybillion configuration errors, loaded settings from current working TS project, car won't start. Checked the IAC settings only to discover it was not set to use an IAC.

Pretty sure all my settings are gone. /sadtrombone

There should be a recovery tune from before.
<br />Also you can open msq's in a text editor and extract settings.
<br />I normally copy paste all the warnings, then do a text compare of the 2 msq's and fix what is needed.

Yeah, all that **** is gone now. All I have is what's on the MS3 and what's on my backup copy of the entire project directory.

Probably going to start drinking instead.

Did you not save your msq before flashing? If so, yes that's a good reason to drink.
